Job Overview

The New Way Daycare Provider will be the primary staff member caring daily for children who live at New Way and are between the ages 2 months – 5 years. Daycare schedules are built one week in advance by the Children's Program Director, based on resident requests. Families living at New Way have often experienced varying degrees of trauma and housing instability. Missionally, New Way's daycare is designed to be a place of safety, joy, and connection. New Way Daycare is implementing a modality of TBRI (Trust Based Relational Intervention) into the approach for all aspects of the children's program. Daycare Provider will be expected to learn and practice these methods.

Daycare Provider – Christian Hope Association

Responsible to: NW Children's Program Director Classification: Non-Exempt

Time Commitment: This position is part-time, 30-36 hours per week. This amount of hours is required for 10-12 weeks, after which a reduction to 15-20 hours per week is optional if desired, as there will be an opportunity for a job share of this role beginning in March. Times worked will be M-F between 8 am – 4 pm.

Compensation: $20/hour, paid vacation TBD.

Qualifications:

  • A committed and growing relationship with Jesus Christ as the Lord and Savior.
  • An Associates degree in child development is preferred
  • 2-5 years of relative experience working with children, including those who are behaviorally challenged.
  • Mobility and the ability to carry 40lbs.
  • A heart to invest in the care and development of the children living at New Way.

Responsibilities:

  • Care of children ages 2 months – 5 years M-F, including reading, play, feeding, napping and diaper changing/toileting. Ratio is 1:3 depending on children's ages.
  • Arrive 15 minutes early to setup the space for the day.
  • Frequent communication with Children's Program Director regarding needs and care of each child who attends daycare.
  • Attend all-staff meetings bi-weekly on Thursday afternoons.
  • Launder all daycare linens.
  • Sanitize and clean toys, surfaces, and restroom. Vacuum floors daily.
  • Communicate with parents about child's day (activities, foods, naps, diaper changes, what went well, what was hard, etc).
  • Partner with moms on working to hold to the set schedule and developmental milestones.
