Job Description:

The position of Director of Admissions and Recruitment (DA) will report to the Executive Director of the RTS Dallas and Houston campuses and the Chief Enrollment Management Officer, and is designed to oversee recruiting, admitting, and ministering to prospective students for the Master of Divinity degree program and the Master of Arts degree program at the Dallas and Houston campuses. This position will also oversee the overall campus enrollment, with a view toward greater retention of students. The DA may be called upon to assist in some areas of student development and in the personal assessment and spiritual formation of the seminary students.

Responsibilities and Requirements:

  • Review applications and admit qualified students.
  • Travel for the primary purpose of recruiting students and meeting with influential contacts (pastors/alumni) in the geographic areas from which RTS Dallas and RTS Houston draw students. States of interest include Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, Colorado, and New Mexico.
  • Cultivate relationships with prospective students through ongoing follow-up and engagement at each step of the recruiting and admissions process.
  • Cultivate close relationships with local and regional college campus ministry staff, especially RUF campus ministers.
  • Represent RTS at presbyteries, denominational gatherings, and other conferences at which attendees fit the RTS recruiting demographic.
  • Plan recruiting trips, lunches, and dinners.
  • Plan campus events for prospective students and active students.
  • Offer a recruiting presence, when possible, at faculty speaking engagements.
  • Promote campus visibility by coordinating recruiting/speaking engagements on behalf of RTS Dallas and RTS Houston at churches, universities, conferences, and at-large opportunities.
  • Coordinate with Institutional Communications to maintain a current, strategic internet (web pages and social media) presence.
  • Assist, when possible, prospective students and active students needing help with housing, jobs, and other issues that would affect their ability to attend RTS.
  • Assist, when called upon, in academic advising.
  • Assist with the financial aid process of individual students.
  • Collaborate with the CEMO and other campus Directors of Admissions and Recruiting to effectively represent RTS.

Position Qualifications:

Qualifications, Education, and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • A minimum of three years of relevant work experience.
  • Possess Christian maturity and godly character.
  • Proven commitment to historic Reformed theology.
  • Active membership and engagement in the life of a local church.
  • A commitment to RTS's vision to impact the world through seminary training grounded in biblical fidelity, confessional integrity, academic excellence, and spiritual growth.
  • The ability to shepherd individuals as they discern their calling to ministry while remaining mindful of their respective strengths and weaknesses.
  • The ability to speak confidently in public settings.
  • Competence in administrative work, Microsoft Office, and database work.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
  • Highly motivated, task-oriented, and goal-driven.

Additional Qualification Preferences:

  • Ordination in a Reformed denomination with 3-5 years of pastoral experience
  • Previous campus ministry experience
  • Master's degree in divinity

Cognitive and Physical Demands

  • Computer work, screen time, keyboarding, typing, wrist flexing/extension, and other repetitive movements.
  • Professional judgment in alignment with organizational values and policies is required.
  • Effective communication, both verbal and written.
  • Occasional travel
  • Kneeling, standing, reaching, twisting, grasping, and lifting (up to 15 pounds).
