Job Description:
The Director of Children's Ministry is responsible for leading, developing, and overseeing all aspects of the children's ministry (ages birth to 5th grade) to create alignment with the church's vision and mission. This includes curriculum development, volunteer recruitment and training, event planning, and ensuring a safe, welcoming, and spiritually enriching environment for children and their families.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Program Development and Implementation:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive children's ministry curriculum that helps our children to develop spiritually, connect relationally, and engage missionally.
- Recruit, train, and equip Sunday School teachers.
- Ensure all programs and activities align with FPCC's mission, vision, and values.
- Set a vision for, regularly evaluate, and update curriculum and activities to meet the changing needs of children and families.
- Work with the Children's Ministry Committee.
2. Volunteer Management:
- Recruit, train, and support a team of volunteers to effectively lead and assist in children's ministry programs.
- Provide ongoing training and development opportunities for volunteers.
- Foster a positive and collaborative team environment.
3. Event Planning and Execution:
- Plan, coordinate, and execute special events such as Vacation Bible School (VBS), holiday programs, mission vision, family events, and other outreach activities.
- Ensure events are well-organized, safe, and effectively communicated to families and the congregation.
4. Safety and Security:
- Establish and oversee safety and security protocols for all children's ministry activities.
- Work with the diaconate to meet legal and safety obligations.
- Ensure all volunteers and staff undergo appropriate background checks and training.
- Maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all children and families.
5. Family Engagement:
- Build relationships with children and their families, providing support and resources to help them grow in their faith.
- Communicate regularly with parents about upcoming events, program updates, and volunteer opportunities.
- Provide pastoral care to children and families as needed.
6. Administrative Duties:
- Develop and manage the children's ministry budget.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, volunteer participation, and other relevant data.
- Prepare and present regular reports to church leadership on the status and progress of the children's ministry.
- Provide direction and management to the Nursery Coordinator.
7. Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with other church staff and ministry leaders to ensure a cohesive and integrated approach to ministry.
- Participate in staff meetings and contribute to the overall strategic planning and vision of the church
- Serve as a liaison between the children's ministry and the broader congregation.
Position Qualifications:
Qualifications
- Education and Experience:
- Previous experience in children's ministry or a related field required.
- Bachelor's degree in theology, education, or a related field preferred.
- Skills and Abilities:
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to recruit, train, and motivate volunteers.
- Creative and able to develop engaging programs for children.
- Proficiency with technology and social media is a plus.
- Personal Characteristics:
- A strong, mature Christian faith and a passion for children's ministry.
- Energetic, enthusiastic, and a team player.
- High level of integrity and professionalism.
- Compassionate and able to relate well to children and families.
- Working Conditions:
- This position requires regular evening and weekend hours.
- Must be able to pass a background check and adhere to the church's child protection policies.
- Compensation:
- Salary commensurate with experience.
