Director of Children’s Ministry (or Children’s Pastor)
The purpose of the Children's Ministry of First Baptist Church is to train, encourage, and connect with children as they grow in maturity in their Christian faith. The primary responsibility of the Director of Children's Ministry (or the Children's Pastor) is the planning, directing, and coordinating of the Children's Ministry of the Church with input from the Children's Ministry Planning Team and the Lead Pastor.
The Director of Children's Ministry (or Children's Pastor) will cast vision and lead the children's ministry (ages birth through sixth grade) of the Church. They will develop, equip, and mobilize teams of adults that are responsible for serving in the various areas of children's ministry. In addition, they will develop and execute a plan to communicate with and equip parents to be the primary disciple makers in the lives of their children. The Director of Children's Ministry (or Children's Pastor) will utilize existing ministries of First Baptist Church to engage the families of our community with the Gospel message of Jesus Christ while also considering child specific evangelistic events.
Specific Responsibilities:
1. Provide supervision to Sunday School teachers of the children's Sunday School departments and classes.
2. Lead in outreach, evangelism, and discipleship activities for children.
3. Coordinate with the Team Leader of the Children's Ministry Planning Team and serve on the Team.
4. Plan a yearly calendar of activities for children.
5. Plan and oversee the children's budgets (inclusive Awana Clubs, Vacation Bible School, Children's Camp).
6. Attend all children's events as planned by the Church and coordinate volunteers for events as needed.
7. Enlist and train workers for all components related to children's ministry.
8. Establish a relationship with local schools.
9. Coordinate and lead weekly Bible studies for children which would include serving as Awana commander.
10. Plan and participate in mission activities, Bible clubs, Vacation bible School and other outreach activities appropriate for children.
11. Coordinate and oversee recreation and social activities for children.
12. Work with the Lead Pastor in providing an annual ministry review and performance evaluation to the Personnel Team.
13. Additional duties as assigned by the Personnel Team or Lead Pastor that support the children's ministry or otherwise assist in the overall mission of the Church.
