Director of Children’s Ministry
Purpose
The Director of Children's Ministry furthers the mission of Pleasant Valley North Baptist Church by providing Birth-Grade 6 with an age-appropriate ministry which will motivate and encourage spiritual development in a warm, caring environment.
Identifying Information
· Ministerial/Full-time/Exempt
· 45+ hrs per week
Responsibilities
· Recruit, train and schedule volunteers in all programs of the Children's Ministry
· In collaboration with the Nursery Facilitator:
o Ensure volunteers are trained, scheduled, and report for service
o Provide nursery care for all regularly scheduled church services and special events
o Maintain a safe and clean environment for infants and toddlers
· Ensure security and best practices for children through mandated periodic background checks on all volunteers
· Partner with the Pastor of Family Ministries to engage children of new families while also developing ongoing relationships with children of existing families
· Plan and execute special Children's Ministry events of the church
· Coordinate all plans and activities with ministry teams and the staff to avoid conflicts with other church events
· Study and provide appropriate curriculum that is consistent with the PVN mission and its theology to all programs within the Children's Ministry
· Perform other ministry duties as assigned
Leadership
· Director of the following programs within the Children's Ministry:
o AWANA
o Children's Church
o Nursery Program
o VBS
o Preteen Ministry
o Special children's programming throughout the year
· Represent the Children's Ministry as a part of the church staff and in other areas of the community
· Member of the Family Ministry Council
· Supervise the Nursery Facilitator & Children's Ministry Assistant
Administration
· Maintain a good working relationship with all kids, parents, and volunteers within the Children's Ministry
· Create yearly budgets for the Children and Nursery Ministries, AWANA, and VBS
· Develop an ongoing assessment of the Children's Ministry and from that assessment evaluate future needs and changes to programming
Expectations
· Maintain a strong Christian faith evidenced by professional/personal conduct
· Must be committed to the Bible as the Word of God
· Must be willing to commit to the mission of Pleasant Valley North Baptist Church
· Be supportive and serve harmoniously and cooperatively under the leadership of the Senior Pastor and with all other ministers and staff members
· Regularly participate in weekly prospect and hospital visitation, to include visiting schools, sharing lunch, and supporting activities of children
· Notify the Pastor/Personnel Committee when unable to carry out these duties and responsibilities, especially planned activities and further secure volunteers as needed
· Demonstrate a positive image of the Church to the community
· Excellent planning skills to develop a vision of the Children's Ministry while also multi-tasking in the various children's programs
· Strong computer skills including knowledge or Office 365, Google Docs, and social media
Education and Experience
· 2+ years experience in full-time ministry
· Possession of a Bachelor's degree from a fully accredited college or university – seminary degree preferred
· Commitment towards continued education and personal and professional growth
