Description
The Director of Development is responsible for managing the donor experience and overseeing all
development-related tasks under the Executive Director's supervision. This role is vital in ensuring
donors feel connected and appreciated, while supporting Fieldstone's overall development strategy.
Strong cross-departmental collaboration is essential, so we are seeking a team-oriented individual.
Duties
Donor Relationship Development and Management
- Refine and develop a clear donor identity (Who are our donors? Why do they give?).
- Maintain a calendar and schedule for all donor communications and update the Executive Director on upcoming tasks.
- Oversee the donor engagement cycle, including:
- Welcome Kits
- Campaigns
- Thank-you notes and follow-up emails
- Receipting/ gift acknowledgement coordination with finance.
- Handling any donor inquiries and responding promptly
- Maintain accurate reporting for donor activities and giving
Communication and Coordination
- Collaborate with the Director of Communications and Marketing to coordinate donor communication strategies.
- Ensure consistent and accurate data entry into the CRM (DonorBox) and manage CRM-style notes.
- Investigate and implement a texting service to improve donor engagement.
- Initiate and manage contact with lapsed donors to maintain and strengthen relationships.
Strategic Donor Engagement
- Direct and enhance monthly giving initiatives and develop strategies for strategic gifting.
- Phone calls to donors, as directed by Executive Director
- Willing and able to travel 2–3 times per year for required events, including a team retreat in February and October fundraising events.
- Participate in planning and support for annual fundraisers
- Attendance at team meetings, on-on-ones, ad hocs as needed.
- Participation in annual team retreat.
- Participate in regular meetings with the Executive Director and Management Team to align on strategy and goals.

- This position is a 12-month, fixed-term role, with the intention of continuation pending a yearend evaluation of performance and future objectives.
