Job Overview

Objectives of the position: The Director of Donor & Community Relations will help Marsha's Place cultivate a community that values every human life from conception by:

  • Building and cultivating relationships with donors with the aim of producing life-long partnerships.
  • Introducing individuals, businesses, and churches to the vision and mission of Marsha's Place, proactively working to make new connections in our community.
  • Managing fundraising processes and planning fundraising events.
  • Focusing on the execution of the Marsha's Place annual fundraising plan.
  • Communicating regularly with our ministry partners to share the impact of our work.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A committed Christian, active in a local church, who affirms the Marsha's Place Vision/Mission, Statement of Faith, Core Values, and policies.
  • Strong alignment with the mission, including pro-life convictions and a commitment to sexual integrity.
  • Bachelor's degree required; experience in donor development, nonprofit, marketing, sales, or ministry settings preferred.
  • Strong communicator with excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills.
  • Proven ability to build relationships, engage donors, and discuss giving opportunities with confidence and care.
  • A positive, team-oriented individual committed to reflecting Christlike character.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in nonprofit management, communications, marketing, or public relations.

Status: Exempt, Full-time (32 hrs./week, Monday-Thursday)

Job Description

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Donor Relations
    • Cultivate Long-Term Relationships with Donors – Build and maintain meaningful, personal relationships with current donors, prioritizing consistent communication, listening, and trust-building.
    • Practice Excellent Donor Stewardship – Ensure donors feel genuinely valued, informed, and connected to the mission of Marsha's Place through timely thank-you communication, impact reporting, personal updates, and intentional follow-up.
    • Develop Individualized Donor Engagement Strategies – Understand each donor's interests, passions, and giving capacity in order to tailor communication, involvement opportunities, and long-term engagement plans.
    • Foster Lifetime Ministry Partnerships – Encourage donors to see their involvement as an ongoing partnership with the organization – financially, relationally, and prayerfully – supporting the mission across seasons of life. Proactively initiate calls, meetings, visits, and written communication to strengthen relational connection and mission alignment.
  2. Community Engagement
    • Proactively engage new individuals, churches, businesses, and organizations in the community, intentionally cultivating relationships that lead to new donors, volunteers, and long-term ministry partners.
    • Represent the organization publicly to increase community awareness, understanding, and support of the mission.
    • Cultivate strategic relationships with community leaders, churches, organizations, and individuals.
    • Host and coordinate site tours to educate and engage community partners.
    • Partner with staff to create meaningful pathways for community involvement through service, prayer, advocacy, and events.

3. Event Planning

    • Assist with the strategic planning, coordination, and execution of annual fundraising and awareness events, including Night for Life, Baby Bottle Boomerang, Walk for Life, and Sanctity of Human Life Sunday.
    • Develop event goals, timelines, and budgets in collaboration with the Executive Director and relevant staff.
    • Lead sponsorship strategy and outreach for fundraising events, cultivating and stewarding relationships with event sponsors and partners.
    • Coordinate staff, volunteers, and vendors to ensure events are executed with excellence and reflect the mission, values, and brand of the organization.
    • Evaluate event outcomes and provide post-event reporting and recommendations to inform future planning and improvement.

4. Annual Fundraising Plan

    • Lead the execution of the organization's annual fundraising strategy in collaboration with the Executive Director and Board, including annual giving, major gifts, grants, and monthly donors.
    • Coordinate annual fund solicitations, grant writing and reporting, and donor onboarding and stewardship efforts.
    • Implement a consistent donor engagement strategy focused on personal relationships and long-term partnership.
    • Monitor and report fundraising progress, outcomes, and projections to leadership and the Board.
    • Assist the Executive Director with additional duties as assigned.

5. Communications

    • Execute the organization's annual communications plan to ensure consistent, mission-aligned messaging to donors, prospective supporters, volunteers, and the broader community.
    • Develop and distribute one-to-many communications – including social media and digital content – that share impact stories and highlight opportunities for engagement and giving.
    • Review and update the organizational case statement annually to support clear, compelling messaging across internal and external communications.
    • Strengthen community awareness and credibility by submitting timely stories, updates, and news to local media outlets that demonstrate the impact of Marsha's Place.

6. Database Management

    • Maintain accuracy of gift (cash, noncash, and in-kind), contact, notes, and interaction records in CRM.
