Director of Donor Development
Job Overview
The Director of Donor Development will provide vision and leadership for donor stewardship by creating and executing a comprehensive strategic plan to strengthen existing donor commitment and forge new relationships. This position will plan and execute initiatives, oversee all donor outreach, communication, and reporting and lead a small development team. This role is key in funding the mission of Proverbs 31 Ministries that women will know and live out the truth of God's Word...because it changes everything.
Job Description
What You'll Do
- Develop and implement a long term strategic plan that ensures sustainable growth in fundraising and protects the donor experience at Proverbs 31 Ministries.
- Establish and oversee an annual fundraising budget of over $4 million. Regularly review and adjust forecasts based on actual income and expenses to maintain financial health.
- Cultivate and manage a portfolio of 40 major donors creating personalized plans for each that includes cultivation, involvement, solicitation, and appropriate acknowledgement.
- Ensure the P31 story and impact is consistently and accurately communicated to donors including through the annual impact report.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive donor communications plan collaborating with marketing and promotional copywriters to create compelling, mission-driven content.
- Write marketing plans for donor campaigns working closely with the Director of Marketing to ensure alignment with overarching goals.
- Explore and propose new fundraising channels such as texting and responsive fundraising and suggest strategies to maximize established and emerging marketing opportunities.
- Lead strategy and execution of print and digital fundraising campaigns focusing on donor engagement, retention, and new donor acquisition.
- Provide visionary leadership for fundraising events and activities ensuring that goals are met and donor experience is aligned with the Proverbs 31 brand.
- Represent the ministry at various events and initiatives including but not limited to: livestream events, in-person events, video recordings, and speaking opportunities.
- Lead and develop the Donor Development team (five direct reports) fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
- Oversee the moves management process and recurring giving program to ensure strategic growth and donor retention.
- Employ industry-wide concepts and best practices (including ECFA Standards and AFP trends) in campaign planning, strategy and execution.
- Serve as a liaison with senior leadership regarding donor gifts and developing stewardship plans for top donors.
What You Bring
- A deep, unapologetic Christian faith and a genuine belief in the mission of Proverbs 31 Ministries.
- Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 5 years of successful fundraising or high-level sales experience; CFRE designation is a plus.
- Strong track record in annual fund and major gifts solicitation with success in securing five and/or six figure gifts.
- Experience in the design and implementation of inbound and digital marketing strategies is a plus.
- Knowledge of the local community and not-for-profit sector is highly desired.
- Ability to independently develop,implement and sustain donor relationships that drive long-term engagement and success.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate the mission and vision of Proverbs 31 through one-on-one interactions and public speaking opportunities.
- Strong project management skills including the ability to manage time, details and multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office with basic knowledge of CRM systems and nonprofit fundraising technologies. Experience with Virtuous CRM is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with donors, staff, and stakeholders ensuring positive engagement with the ministry.

Salary Range
$75,000 – 87,000

Hybrid with two (2) days in our offices located in Matthew, North Carolina
