Director of Family and Youth Programming

Job Overview

Comunidad is a growing community development nonprofit working alongside families in the Seven Corners and Kingsley communities in Falls Church. We are seeking a mission-driven and experienced Family and Youth Program Director to lead and expand our education and enrichment initiatives for children, teens, and their families.

The Family and Youth Program Director will oversee the design, delivery, and evaluation of year-round youth and family programs, including after-school enrichment, summer camps, parent engagement, and youth leadership development. This role requires strong program management skills, a commitment to community-centered practices, and the ability to build meaningful relationships with families, volunteers, and partners.

Required skills/qualifications for this role include: Bilingual in English and Spanish; Strong ability to connect with youth and families from diverse cultural backgrounds; Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain program calendars; Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

Ideal candidates will have a minimum of 7 years experience in youth development, education or family services.

Job Description

The duties and responsibilities of this role are described below:

Program Leadership

  • Develop, manage, and evaluate youth and family programming in alignment with Comunidad's mission and values.
  • Plan and oversee special events, workshops, and leadership opportunities for teens.
  • Maintain a comprehensive calendar for all family and youth programs.
  • Research and integrate engaging, culturally relevant curricula for youth and families.
  • Contribute to continuous program improvement through feedback and analysis.

Family and Community Engagement

  • Build relationships with families and connect them to internal programs and external resources.
  • Support the Executive Director in community events, outreach, and partnership development.

Volunteer Management

  • Recruit, vet, and supervise volunteers in partnership with the Volunteer Coordinator and Administrator.
  • Ensure volunteer compliance with applications, background checks, and onboarding requirements.

Evaluation and Reporting

  • Track program outcomes and support data collection and reporting efforts.
  • Use data and feedback to strengthen program effectiveness and impact.
