Position Summary
JAARS is looking for a Director of Human Resources with experience in a non-profit, faith-based organization. The Director of Human Resources is responsible for providing leadership for all HR Operations. This includes strategic workforce planning, screening and processing, onboarding and offboarding, payroll and benefits management, performance management, policy review and compliance, staff relations, and international HR regulations and labor laws.
Position Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Global Operations team regarding work visas – understanding who requires them and the appropriate timing, along with the various types and restrictions of temporary visas, green cards, and labor certifications in the United States and internationally.
- Collaborate with senior management to develop international HR strategy and projects that is in line with the organization's goals.
- Stay updated with changes in global HR regulations and labor laws, ensuring compliance and mitigating HR-related risks.
- Design, implement, and measure the effectiveness of HR staffing services
- Collaborate with the Recruiting team
- Assess the effectiveness of current HR processes and implement process improvements
- Ensure organizational and regulatory HR compliance
- Ensure the accuracy of the HR Information System (HRIS)
- Consult on and oversee staff relations matters in accordance with the Staff Handbook
- Support managers in successfully supervising their staff
- Manage the HR department budget and team
- Serve on the JAARS Leadership Team and consult on organizational matters
Position Requirements
- A deep and growing walk with the Lord Jesus that includes one's personal spiritual growth and the ability to support others in spiritual growth
- Embrace the vision, mission, and core values of JAARS
- Bachelor's degree, preferably related to HR Management; with five-plus years of HR Management experience
- Membership in national and local SHRM preferred; HR Certification preferred (SHRM-SCP, SHRM-CP or SPHR, PHR)
- Proven experience in an international leadership role.
- In-depth knowledge of international HR practices, employment laws, regulations, and compliance is required.
- Specific international experience in Africa, Asia, and South America is a plus.
- Experience working in cross-cultural environments and promoting international teamwork.
- Continuous learning mindset to stay updated with changes in global HR regulations and best practices.
- Demonstrate integrity and conviction with the ability to lead and motivate a team and influence others through godly character
- Display servant leadership, balancing expertise with humility
- Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills, as well as good interpersonal skills
- Exhibit strong organizational, analytical, and management capabilities—able to lead demonstrable stewardship of all JAARS resources: people, time, money
