Mission Connection The Director of Kids helps lead the mission of Sojourn Church J-Town by partnering with parents to reach kids with the gospel and build a love for Jesus that lasts a lifetime. This role will lead the charge with the vision and ministries toward kids birth through fifth grade at Sojourn J-Town.

Character and Competencies

● Fulfills the character qualifications of a deacon as outlined in Scripture and Sojourn By-laws

● Demonstrates commitment to collaborate with staff members, local elders, and other ministry leaders of Sojourn J-Town

● Able to receive direction and implement vision

● Active in personal growth and development in the midst of a growing ministry and church

● Humble with a desire to continually improve the ministry of Sojourn J-Town and the passion to build a long-lasting church

● Strong relational skills and ability to joyfully interact with kids and parents

● Experience leading a children's ministry

● Able to recruit, build, and equip a volunteer team

● Able to teach kids and adults

● Able to communicate effectively and engagingly to children and adults from a stage

● Proficient in using email platforms, church management software for communication, and presenting updates in church services or newsletters

● Event planning and execution

Job Description

Responsibilities Sojourn Kids Programming:

Oversee all elements of Sojourn Kids programming.

● Give vision and direction for the ministry

● Oversee curriculum

● Recruit and build a volunteer team

● Provide regular training and connections with leaders

● Empower a team to do the ministry

● Plan weekly programing including classrooms and Assembly

● Plan and execute Sojourn Kids Ministry events

● Oversee communication to volunteers and parents of Sojourn Kids Family Ministry: Foster an environment of encouragement and equipment for parents.

● Meet with parents regularly to encourage and pray with them

● Create spaces and share resources to equip parents

● Partner with Sojourn Students for parent-equipping events such as Child Dedication Class, Family Baptism Class, and other milestone events
