Ministry Overview: New Song Mission, Inc. is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit Christian ministry which provides transformational growth opportunities for vulnerable children through holistic, compassionate care on a scenic, 100-acre children's campus. New Song Mission offers safe, spacious homes, a tailored education, biblical discipleship, and enriching experiences to disadvantaged K-8th grade boys and girls so that the kids will grow and thrive in life. Children at New Song live in a wonderful, family-like environment where the kids are cared for by married, husband and wife couples who nurture and guide the children in life. The New Song campus is located near the beautiful Brown County State Park, about an hour south of Indianapolis. Through the holistic care New Song Mission provides and the transforming love of Jesus, children become fully equipped to fulfill God's wonderful purpose for the children's lives!

School Setting: Instruction at New Song takes place in two small classroom settings offering both individualized and group learning activities. Core subjects at New Song are currently taught through a very interactive online curriculum which allows for classroom teachers and tutors to come alongside students and assist the children personally in the core subject matter. Group instruction is also provided in subjects such as Bible, Science, Leadership Training, Health, Physical Education, Spanish, and other classes. The utilization of hands-on learning experiences is highly valued at New Song, as the children can have a very positive impact on student success.

General Job Description: This position is a year-round role in the ministry in which this key administrator will lead our academic program in a collaborative fashion within the context of our broader children's home ministry and assist the ministry in other ways. The responsibility of the Director of School Administration is to plan, organize, and implement a safe, structured, and engaging educational environment for the students of New Song Mission. The Director of School Administration will ensure the establishment and sustainability of a healthy classroom atmosphere where students are held to high standards of conduct and accountability, while also being personally encouraged and individually assisted in the academic efforts. Summer work includes helping support our ministry's summer camps and planning for the upcoming school year.

Student Success: Hallmarks of New Song's ability to successfully educate students have been:

1. Personalized Instruction: A hallmark of New Song's educational program is meeting the students' academic needs in a highly personalized way. The administrator will ensure that the individual needs of each student are met through personal support so that students are equipped to learn and grow toward the God-given potential. Each student must be encouraged and aided throughout the school day, and the children's successes and accomplishments must be celebrated with enthusiasm, no matter how large or small those achievements might be.

1. Collaboration: This administrator will have a collaborative mindset and welcoming the input of colleagues and embracing the holistic ministry the ministry provides to vulnerable children. The educational program is part of a larger ministry that comprehensively meets all the physical, emotional, spiritual, and educational needs of boys and girls through a variety of programs and opportunities New Song Mission provides boys and girls. Therefore, all key decisions in the educational program must be made in the context of the broader ministry and must be decided upon in conjunction and dialogue with the leadership team and with the approval of the Executive Director. Working together, New Song will maintain and grow in its ability to have a holistic, transformative impact on students' lives, by the grace of God.

1. Classroom Structure and Student Accountability: New Song students thrive the best in a highly structured classroom environment where the students are held accountable for schoolwork behavioral difficulties. Addressing student behavioral difficulties must be done in accordance with New Song's methodology and training New Song provides for working with and discipling vulnerable kids who come from challenging backgrounds. Behavioral expectations for students in the classroom must adhere to the same standards students have throughout our campus. A high degree of structure and routine are essential for student success.

General Responsibilities. By God's grace the administer will lead the classroom in such a manner to:

· Create an encouraging, positive classroom atmosphere

· Ensure that the classroom is clean and well organized

· Promote a Christian worldview throughout the curriculum and learning activities

· Implement behavioral management tools and techniques in accordance with New Song's best practices and training to maintain a positive, productive, and harmonious learning environment

· Maintain a cooperative, collaborative spirit with New Song administrators, house parents, other staff members and volunteers

Specific Responsibilities. The specific responsibilities of the Director of School Administration are:

· Tutoring: Because New Song currently operates a multi-grade classroom, core subjects are taught through an interactive, online curriculum that is strongly supported by tutoring. The administrator will sit alongside of students during the core subjects and tutor the student as the students work through the online materials.

· Teaching: Supplemental subject are taught in a group setting, with the administrator being the lead instructor for most classes.

· Tutor/Teacher Supervision: The administrator will train, support, and supervise New Song's classroom tutors and teachers so that the tutors will successfully fulfill the roles, including the proper implementation of New Song's curriculum and classroom management, providing periodic teacher evaluations which include goal setting for personal improvement.

· Planning: The administrator will plan and implement a variety of activities and experiences such as field trips, service opportunities, and inviting guest speakers into the classroom that will benefit the educational experience of students

· Evaluation: The school administrator will lead the objective evaluation of curriculum and student learning

· Curriculum development: The administrator will lead, in collaboration with other New Song leaders, the assessment and selection of academic curriculum

· Program Development: The administrator will drive the evaluation, development, and implementation of New Song's academic program to support student learning and achieve successful student outcomes. the Director of Scholl Administration shall apply standard program development practices, for example, creating objectives, deadlines, schedules, and success criteria. In so doing, the administrator will take into consideration the highly personalized academic experience which New Song has successfully provided students over the years that has allowed the boys and girls to thrive.

· Strategic Planning: The administrator will participate in the development of a strategic educational plan that could lead towards school accreditation

· Outcomes: The school administrator will lead in the development of academic outcomes in collaboration with other members of New Song's leadership team.

· Compliance: The school administrator will ensure compliance with any applicable local, state, and federal standards that may be imposed on the educational program

· Model Christ among the students

· Demonstrate classroom leadership and generate student respect

· Work in unity with other staff members and administrators

· Maintain a desire to grow as a professional educator
