Purpose Statement:

The Director of Student Ministry labors in knowing, leading, feeding, and protecting the 7-12th grade part of the flock at Castleton Community Church, under the supervision of the Elders. Responsibilities include recruiting and equipping adult leaders, discipling students, teaching weekly bible lessons, and overall administration and direction for all student ministry activities.

• Master of Divinity or equivalent formal theological training.
• Track record of membership and service in a local church.

Essential Job Functions:

• Member in good standing of Castleton Community Church or another gospel preaching church.
• Possesses an internal call toward vocational ministry.
• Calling confirmed by leadership of applicant's local church.
• Has character consistent with the qualifications for an elder as found in 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9, and 1 Peter 5:1-5.
• Ability to teach biblical truth, and desire to do so for the good of the church.
• Eager to disciple the next generation of students to know and trust Jesus.
• Able to plan, cast vision, and lead ministry teams and initiatives.
• Consistently strives for excellence, seeing ministry as a labor unto the Lord
• Team player that can thrive in a collaborative team environment.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain healthy and motivating relationships with supervisors, coworkers, and volunteers.

• Student Ministry
  • Builds relationships with member families and students in the 7-12th grade range.
  • Invests in and equips existing student ministry volunteer team.
  • Casts vision for Rooted Student Ministry, yearly to parents and students, and occasionally to the whole church
  • Responsible for all volunteer recruitment and training.
  • Teaches weekly Bible lessons contextualized for students.
  • Manages the student ministry calendar.
  • Point person for all student ministry events and initiatives.
  • Offers soul care and encouragement to volunteers, families and students.
  • Manages Student Ministry budget.
• Secondary Responsibilities (Communications OR Local Outreach)
  • Communications
    • Collaborates with Pastors & other staff to understand the communication needs of the whole church
    • Manages communications budget
    • Creates or procures graphics for use in slides, e-mails, and website
    • Assembles and sends the weekly church E-news
    • Designs and prints weekly bulletins
    • Manages church database system (Planning Center)
    • Seasonally attends to updating and refreshing of signage both inside and outside the facility
    • Assists pastors, staff and ministries with communications needs
  • Local Outreach
    • Maintains relationships with our existing Local Outreach Partners, serving as a point person for communication and new initiatives.
    • Brings recommendations to the elders for new Local Outreach initiatives, both internal and external.
    • Main point person to execute any local outreach initiatives.
    • Develops Local Outreach testimonies for use in Sunday services
    • Manages the Local Outreach Budget.
    • Oversees English as Second Language Outreach Ministry
      • Present for Monday night ESL ministry
      • Learns ins and outs of ministry from volunteer team
      • Manages Budget
      • Identifies testimonies to share with congregation of serving & being served
      • Develops strategies to encourage crossover between ESL Students and the Congregation.
      • Prepares to manage day-to-day operations of ministry (near future)
      • Begins developing long-term vision for the ministry (3-year plan).
• Misc Duties
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Lead Pastor.
  • Preaches and teaches as part of the Pastoral Staff team
