Director of Student Ministries
The Director of Student Ministries assists the Lead Pastor in leading the church to accomplish the mission and vision of Lakewood Baptist Church as it relates to student ministry of grades 7 through 12. His primary goal is to make and mature growing and obedient disciples of Jesus Christ through the Student Ministry. Additionally, he is responsible for developing and evaluating all aspects of the Student Ministry that could be used to communicate the gospel of Jesus Christ and the mission and vision of Lakewood Baptist Church.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Be a baptized, committed, and growing follower of Jesus Christ whose life bears testimony of divine calling and gifts of ministry.Exemplify the spiritual leadership qualifications set forth in the Scripture (Acts 20:28-32; 1 Timothy 3:1-7; 1 Timothy 5:17; Titus 1:5-9; 1 Peter 5:1-4).
- Demonstrate gifts of leadership, administration, and creative communication, including but not limited to planning all aspects of activities, organizing volunteers, and clearly communicating with parents and students.
- Demonstrate the ability to soundly interpret and teach scripture, especially in the context of engaging students.
- Be empathetic and encouraging in spiritual, biblically based counseling.
- Demonstrate a strategic and future-oriented mindset.
- Education in biblically relevant studies or relevant experience that confirms ministerial excellence.
- Demonstrate competency in basic computer and technology skills, including but not limited to word processing, PowerPoint/Keynote, email, texting, and social media.
Role and Responsibilities
- Prepare, lead, and teach Bible lessons focused on the exposition and application of scripture and fellowship activities on Wednesday nights and Sunday mornings.
- Seek to win and mature students in their Christian lives through ongoing programs and projects such as student retreats, camps, service projects, and outreach.
- Develop rapport with local schools through campus visits, organizational involvement, and event attendance.
- Enlist, train, and coordinate volunteers while also providing direct leadership.
- Develop relationships with the parents of our students to partner with them in discipling their students.
- Communicate via email, apps, and social media posts with parents and students.
- Other duties as assigned by the Lead Pastor.
