Role Snapshot:

The Director of Worship & Communications supports the mission of Redeemer by leading the congregation and volunteer teams in gathered worship through song and liturgy. The ideal candidate is someone who is spiritually mature, musically gifted, and willing to collaborate with others in leading thoughtful worship that empowers others to use their gifts and encourages all of Christ's church to feel welcome to worship our Lord together. The Director of Worship & Communications also manages Redeemer's messaging and social media platforms and develops content that conveys logistics, concise calls to action, themes, and stories.

Church Snapshot:

Redeemer will celebrate 13 years this September. Bloomington, Indiana is hope to Indiana University and really is the quintessential college town. IU is also home to the world renown Jacobs School of Music, and as a result we are blessed with some very talented musicians in our band. Being a college town our church attendance varies at different points during the year: during the schmo year our average is 430, while in the summer it drops to an average of 330. We are enjoying a great season of ministry with an incredible team of staff and elders, and we're looking for another high capacity, spiritually mature and musically gifted leader to join us.

Job Description

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

• Fulfill the biblical requirements of the office of deacon as taught in the Scriptures (1 Tim. 3:8-13).
• Experience in leading a band in a worship gathering.
• Desire and ability to work both as a self-starter and within a team environment.
• High attention to detail in all tasks, along with a drive to accomplish tasks.
• High capacity person, able to handle a diversity of details and projects.
• Strong communication skills, interpersonal skills, ability to work well in a community environment with diverse peoples with diverse backgrounds, ability to recruit and manage teams of volunteers are all a must.
• Skilled in using Planning Center, Pro-Presenter, Google docs, Slack, etc.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Reports to and is accountable to the Lead Pastor.
• Planning and putting together a liturgy of songs, readings, and prayers for Sunday gatherings and other special gatherings, while collaborating with the preaching team, as well as other staff and leaders.
• Invest relationally and spiritually, as well as musically, into the lives of band members, helping create community within the band that encourages one another's ongoing growth spiritually and musically.
• Regularly lead or co-lead weekly gatherings as well as special gatherings (Ash Wednesday, Good Friday, Easter, Nine Lessons & Carols, Christmas Eve).
• Recruit and equip qualified musicians to serve in the worship band at weekly gatherings.
• Raise up and equip qualified worship leaders to lead worship on Sundays, to share in the planning of worship gatherings and the writing of liturgy. This should be done with both a vision of ensuring rhythms of rest for yourself but also with a vision of equipping and sending future leaders out.
• Oversee the sound and tech team leaders, ensuring all elements are covered for each gathering (sound, slides, livestream, etc.)
• Oversee Communications at Redeemer — Recruiting a communications team to oversee the creation of and posting to social media accounts, regular updates through the church app, etc.
• Oversee photo and video productions — Recruiting teams to take photos, shoot video, and produce videos for various events, and regular communication to the church.
• Ensure sermon is posted after each Sunday
• Pursue a growing and vibrant relationship with Jesus, prioritizing abiding with Christ in the practice of spiritual disciplines.
• Occasional travel for training and conferences (Harbor Network Leaders Summit, etc.).

POSITION TYPE:

This is a full-time salaried position with a Sabbath observed and family time preserved.

Salary & Vacation: Determined based upon experience (Salary will be in the range of $60,000-65,000)
