General Role Description

Joy of All Nations was started under the leadership of Pastor Tony Thomas with a Launch Team of around 10 families in May 2022. After a season of Launch Team development, the church was launched with public worship on January 29, 2023 with about 20 families. We now have around 95 adults and 50 children (about 100 weekly in Sunday attendance).

Our hope is that the Worship Team Leader will going forward be either a part-time (or potentially a full-time position that will include other roles) that will serve the church by:

• Serving as a spiritually mature, spirit-filled leader of the congregation in musical worship
• Gifted musically (guitar, but other instruments is a plus) and vocally to play and sing in a way to lead dynamic congregational singing
• Specifically our style of worship is "Blended Traditional and Contemporary" (i.e. mix of hymns, contemporary hymns, to songs that are theologically sound from artists/bands such as Chris Tomlin, Phil Wickham, Hillsong, Elevation, Maverick City)
• Able to build up and lead a worship team spiritually, musically, and logistically

Job Description

1. Sunday Worship Leading

• Planning

• • • Working with lead pastor on song selection where songs are theologically sound and also musically fitting to our context
    • Research and introduce new worship songs to the congregation at least three times a year (Spring, Summer, Fall semester) in collaboration with the head pastor
    • Creates and maintains song sheets in Planning Center
    • Logs songs played on CCLI for licensing purposes
    • Maintains Planning Center schedule and plans out worship songs at least a month in advance
    • Coordinates with band members to determine rotations and substitutes as needed
    • Manage worship team budget and purchase new supplies/instruments when needed

• Rehearsal

• • • Helping with equipment set up and tear-down as needed
    • Prayer with worship team
    • Practice with worship team

• Leading

• • Shepherding congregation through singing of songs in what is shared and prayed
  • Singing that leads people into worship that elevates God, the Gospel, and people's joy

1. Worship Team Shepherding

• Create a culture of health, trust, excellence, and joy among worship team as they serve
• Ensuring team has a good rhythm of serving and breaks

1. Worship Team Recruiting

• Consistently looking for gifted and spiritually healthy people to serve on worship team – to continue to bless the congregation, provide a larger team for at least a bi-weekly rotation, and to allow people to grow as they use their gifts.
• Initially and perhaps for some time, the team will be volunteer members of the congregation, so the worship leader will need to manage the inherent challenges of a volunteer praise band.
• Specifically would like to have a weekly team that consists of: Male Vocalist, Guitarist, Female Vocalist, Piano, Cajon (eventual possible additions: Bass, Drums, Electric Guitar)
