Job Overview
The Director of Worship is to serve Providence Baptist Church in the implementation of the vision and strategy for congregational worship. The Director is responsible for ensuring that all aspects of the worship ministry are provided for and carried out with excellence in keeping with the vision of the church.

Skills Needed 1. Musical skills to lead the congregation and the worship team and to develop other worship leaders. 2. Verbal and written communication skills for individual and group training, vision casting, and ministry direction. 3. Training skills for the development of worship leadership and ministry teams. 4. Organizational and management skills to oversee worship ministry teams. 5. Mobilization skills to involve trained and qualified leaders and volunteers in the worship ministry. 6. Motivational skills to inspire others to serve with vision, energy, and excellence. 7. Relational skills to engage and encourage people. 8. Team skills to work with the church leadership, staff, and ministry team volunteers.
Responsibilities 1. Implement the vision, philosophy, and strategy for congregational worship as set by the elders, and church staff. 2. Maintain theological integrity and the cultural distinctives of Providence in the worship ministry. 3. Include discipleship and a service mentality in the culture and practices of the worship ministry. 4. Lead congregational worship on Sundays and at other services and events. Develop other worship leaders for congregational worship. The Director should expect to lead approximately 50% of the Sunday worship services and provide volunteer worship leaders for the other Sundays. The Director will oversee all planning and preparation for Sunday worship services including the weeks when volunteers are leading the services. 5. Train and mobilize volunteers and leaders for worship ministry. 6. Provide assistance to the other ministries of the church to develop worship leadership. 7. Provide the financial, facilities, and equipment needs of the worship ministry including the maintenance of the sound system and musical instruments. 8. Oversee communications related to the worship ministry including print and electronic media. 9. Serve under the direction and accountability of the elders. Report directly to the Lead Pastor.
