At Providence Church, our desire is to gather weekly to worship our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ with music and singing that is biblically faithful, theologically rich, and joyfully passionate. To that end, we are prayerfully seeking our next Director of Worship and specifically praying that he will be a minister, musician, and multiplier. As a minister, he will have the heart of a shepherd. He will have a genuine love for the people of the church and desire to see them grow in their faith and affection towards Christ and others. As a musician, he will strive for excellence in our music, sound, and production that appropriately engages the heart and mind and keeps our focus on God. As a multiplier, he will develop his team that assists in leading worship in our main gathering and other ministries that gather for worship within our church.
The culture of worship that we desire at Providence has the following core values:
1) Christ-Centered – We want the songs that we sing to be distinctly Christian, not generically spiritual.
2) Gospel Telling – We want songs that tell the whole arc of the Gospel from creation to sin to redemption to holiness to the new creation. (In other words, we want the entire sweep of redemptive history, from beginning to end.)
3) Deeply Biblical – We want songs that are rooted in Scripture and come forth from Scripture.
4) Spirit-Empowered – We recognize that our corporate gatherings are a work of the Spirit and not performance-based.
5) Congregational Singing – We want our worship to be engaging the whole body and not just the band or singers.
We believe that this culture of worship thrives as we sing a variety of songs from hymns, modern hymns, and modern worship songs. We want songs that Christians have sung through the ages as well as fresh new praise songs that line up with our core values. We want songs that are faithful and true, biblical, and yet accessible to the vast majority attending our services. Finally, our church is a thriving, growing community that is multiplying churches and sending out missionaries. We are in a season of transition as we move from our current building to a larger campus and worship center that will draw many more to our body. We want a leader who can help us develop and expand to reach our growing community while we keep the heart of a caring, disciple-making body of Christ. We want a leader who exudes the character and heart of Christ.
Providence Church is a growing church in the suburban area of Frisco, Texas. Our mission “to glorify God by making disciples through the gospel, in community, and on mission” fuels our philosophy of ministry. Therefore, everything we do, every ministry we engage in, and every program we promote must align with our great desire to glorify God by seeing the gospel change individual lives.
