Director of Youth and Families
Job Overview
To partner with the pastors and Session in implementing the church’s mission and vision, to work with a team of volunteers in engaging with our students in hopes that they would know God, enjoy Him and His word, and to encourage and walk alongside parents in the discipling of their children.
Qualifications:
- Adheres to and embraces reformed theology and is in general agreement with Westminster confessions
- Dynamic personal relationship with Jesus Christ, evidenced in godly character throughout personal life, family relationships and ministry
- Clear calling from God to minister to youth and families affirmed by others and evident through previous experience
- Exhibits leadership with strong interpersonal skills that can adapt to varying personalities and contexts
- Capacity to work in a team and independently
- Competency in teaching the Bible (doctrine and narrative) at an age-appropriate level
- 4-year bachelor’s degree plus seminary degree OR pursuing or desire to pursue a seminary education

Youth Ministry

Leadership Team
- Gather and oversee a team of adults to serve as a Leadership Team for the Youth Ministry
- Recruit and train volunteers to understand the ministry of the Gospel and a shepherding heart

Ministry Leadership
- Strengthen and grow the purpose and direction of the Youth Ministry along with the Youth Leadership Team
- Lead the ministry in prayer, calling both leaders and students to pray knowing we can accomplish nothing without God’s power
- Plan, organize, and lead youth gatherings, promoting a loving, welcoming, challenging and fun community for growth in grace (i.e. Sunday School, weekly youth meetings, youth small groups, and special youth events)
- Coordinate with the church’s overall discipleship efforts for the students and their families
- Function as primary teacher for the youth yet provide opportunities for youth leadership to teach where appropriate
- Empower and involve youth in the work of ministry
- Encourage parental involvement in the Youth Ministry and its programs
- Oversee the Youth Intern(s)
- Meet regularly with pastors for encouragement and prayer

- Build relationships with youth through programs, activities, events, and one on one meetings
- Reach unchurched youth in our community through leading and training Grace Point youth to effectively relate to their unchurched friends

Ministry to Parents and Families

- Provide regular communication to parents, students, and volunteers
- Encourage parents as they seek to raise their children to know Jesus, knowing that parents are the primary spiritual influence on our children
- Challenge parents, especially fathers, to lead their families spiritually
- Connect with parents to discuss the growth/struggles of their children and discuss with them “what you are seeing” in their kids
