Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministries

Job Description:

Christ the Redeemer seeks to worship God, study His word, and proclaim His gospel. It is the goal of the leadership of CtR to equip the saints to do this effectively. To help accomplish this, the Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministries will seek to provide encouragement, training, and leadership to the congregation and particularly to the youth and young adults to grow as individuals and as a body of Christ. This will involve the following, under the supervision of the Sr. Minister and session:

1. Youth Ministry-
   • Providing leadership and teaching for the youth ministry of CtR, including Jr. and Sr. High on Wednesday evening and Sunday morning Sunday School.
   • Planning, gaining session approval, and implementing a four-year rotation of teaching for the youth Sunday School.
   • Identifying and developing lay leaders who can assist in teaching, supervising and leading small groups within the youth ministry.
   • Planning and executing various youth activities throughout the year.
   • Initiating regular interactions with teenagers to develop and foster strong relationships and opportunities for personal discipleship.
   • Providing leadership (in connection with the Assistant Pastor of Discipleship and Pastoral Care) over the Wednesday fellowship and discipleship activities.
   • Overseeing the planning, leadership, and execution of Vacation Bible School and the Reformation Day Celebration.
   • Ministering under the authority of the elders and the senior pastor. Seeking to plan and execute ministry strategies in collaboration with the elders and the senior pastor.
2. Young Adult Ministry
   • Providing leadership, fellowship, and teaching for the young adult ministry of CtR.
   • Identifying and developing lay leaders who can assist in teaching, supervising and leading small groups within the young adults as this ministry grows.
   • Planning and executing various young adult activities throughout the year.
   • Initiating regular interactions with young adults to develop and foster strong relationships and opportunities for personal discipleship.
   • Being an early-phase discipler of new guests, particularly those in the 22-35 y.o. range. Seek to help young adults become fully assimilated into the life of CtR.
   • Preaching 4-6 times a year on Sunday mornings as directed by the Session and Senior Pastor.
   • Teaching adult Sunday School and Sunday Evening Gatherings as needed.

Position Qualifications:

The ideal candidate would be a man who is finishing seminary, willing to relocate to finish online, and then pursue ordination in our presbytery (Heartland). The hours required and the scope of the ministry may change based upon the man hired, hours available, and individual gifting. The role may resemble more of an internship initially, with additional responsibilities added as they grow in skills and ministry maturity, and eventually fulfilling all the roles listed above. We are looking for a man with a passion for ministry- particularly to youth and young adults, a desire to preach, a love for God and His Word, adherence to the Westminster Standards, relational gifts in interacting with our youth and their families, and a desire to see the gospel impact his own life and the lives of those around him.
