Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministries

Job Overview

The Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministries will provide leadership, vision, and direction for ministry to youth (grades 6–12) and young adults (ages 18–30s), guiding them into deeper faith in Jesus Christ and integration into the life of the church. This position will focus on relational ministry (contact work), biblical teaching, volunteer development, and fostering authentic Christian community for both youth and young adults in a Presbyterian (PCUSA) context.

Qualifications:

  • A committed and mature faith in Jesus Christ and alignment with Reformed/Presbyterian theology and practice.
  • Bachelor's degree required; theological or ministry training preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in youth and/or young adult ministry (paid or volunteer).
  • Strong relational and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Experience with volunteer recruitment and development.
  • Proficiency in communication tools and basic office software.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • This is a part-time position (30 hours/week).
  • Compensation commensurate with experience and education.
  • Includes paid time off and continuing education allowance.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Youth Ministry (6th–12th Grade):

  • Develop and lead weekly youth group gatherings that are Christ-centered, biblically grounded, and engaging.
  • Build meaningful relationships with youth through regular contact work, including attending school events, sports, or performances as appropriate.
  • Create and lead small group Bible studies or discipleship opportunities for youth.
  • Plan and lead retreats, service projects, mission trips, and special events.
  • Partner with parents to support spiritual formation in the home and communicate regularly about youth ministry events and vision.

Volunteer Development:

  • Recruit, train, and shepherd a team of adult volunteers for both middle and high school ministry.
  • Foster a culture of prayer, discipleship, and teamwork among youth ministry leaders.
  • Ensure Safe Church policies are understood and followed by all volunteers.

Young Adult Ministry (Ages 18–30s):

  • Develop and lead a small group ministry specifically for young adults, creating a welcoming space for faith exploration, connection, and growth.
  • Facilitate social and service opportunities that encourage deeper engagement with church life.
  • Encourage young adult participation in worship, congregational ministries, and leadership opportunities.

Administrative and Collaborative Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with church staff, session, and ministry teams to support the overall mission of the church.
  • Attend regular staff meetings and provide reports to relevant committees or session as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records, communications, and scheduling for youth and young adult ministry events.
