ROLE OVERVIEW

Director / Pastor of Worship Music & Media will work with a team of volunteers to lead the congregation in worship through music each week, and will oversee all areas of multimedia communication (A/V, graphic design, social media, website updates, etc.)—supporting the church's aim to encourage and edify the church body and effectively reach the community.

Role begins as ‘Director' with potential to transition to ‘Pastor' upon meeting biblical eldership qualifications, training, and affirmation by Elder Board.

Under the direction of the Lead Pastor, Director / Pastor of Worship Music & Media will...

Worship Planning & Leadership

• Assist in planning the Sunday Worship Service.

• Curate set lists of contemporary and traditional worship songs that align with each service's purpose and passage.

• Lead the congregation in worship through music and prayer.

• Encourage and teach congregational singing and participation.

• Lead music for additional church events (e.g., holiday services, weddings, funerals, outreach events).

Team Development & Coordination

• Lead and oversee the worship team, including singers, musicians, and A/V volunteers.

• Schedule and communicate effectively with team members.

• Plan and execute weekly rehearsals for the worship and A/V teams.

• Train and mentor musicians and team members.

• Recruit and develop new worship and A/V volunteers.

• Shepherd and encourage volunteers.

Graphics & Content Creation

• Design graphics for sermon series, announcements, events, social media, and other church print/electronic materials.

• Create and send email newsletters.

Digital Presence

• Maintain and update the church website.

• Manage social media content and engagement.

Technology Management

• Oversee A/V systems, Planning Center, ProPresenter, WordPress, Divi, Canva, and other digital tools.

Other

• Occasional preaching/teaching opportunities (but not required)

• Assist the Lead Pastor with additional responsibilities as needed.

• Report directly to the Lead Pastor while maintaining accountability to the Board of Elders.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

Education

• Bachelor's degree required (ministry related preferred)
• Graduate level seminary degree preferred

Experience

• A minimum of 2-years of paid ministry experience
• Proficient in reading music & music theory
• Skilled in contemporary praise music & classic hymns
• Experienced in A/V equipment
• Proven experience leading congregational worship in a church setting
• Proficiency in graphic design software
• Proficiency in playing one or more instruments
• Familiarity with ProPresenter, WordPress website platform & Divi interface, Planning Center, and Mac OS preferred

Other

• Exhibit the qualifications of an elder as outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1–7, Titus 1:5–9, and 1 Peter 5:1-4
• Live locally and have a good understanding of southern California culture
• Personally affirm Faith Community Church's Statement of Faith (see https://myfaithcommunity.com/our-beliefs/), core values, policies, etc.
• Submit link to online video demonstrating music/worship leading ability

PAY & BENEFITS

• $30-32/hour ($40,000–$50,000 annually), commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications
• Flexible schedule
