Discipleship Pastor – Northview Christian Church   Why this is a great opportunity: Northview has seen incredible growth over the last two years, growing from less than 500 in 2022 to over 1100 in 2024. The town is anticipated to double in the next 10 years positioning the church to reach thousands more who will be moving into the community. With the opening of The Center, which includes a coffee shop, playground and indoor soccer field, the opportunities are endless with daily interactions people not found anywhere else in Danville.  The commitment to relational discipleship is part of the core philosophy of Northview’s ministry. This role sits at the epicenter of leading an Acts 2 like ministry that touches every aspect of spiritual life and community growth in our church.

Job Summary: The discipleship pastor will lead the development of Northview’s adult relational discipleship ministry by modeling, teaching, and training Northview’s ABCD Discipleship Process (Accept, Belong, Contribute, Disciple).

Character and Experience: A mature, growing believer with a clear understanding of the Gospel, along with the ability to clearly communicate it Proven experience leading teams that demonstrated spiritual growth/health/development Must be teachable, responsible, and respectful Integrity is paramount. Life must reflect the standards set for elders in the Pastoral Epistles.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Recruit, train, and equip small group leaders to lead groups that exhibit authentic Biblical community Assimilation: Oversee database management, visitor tracking, assimilation processes, new believer discipleship, etc. Plan and execute regular small group connection events as a means of bridging the gap between attractional environments and relational discipleship environments Function as overall leader of all Life Groups and Affinity based groups, coaching small group leaders in successful completion of their day-to-day duties and responsibilities. Create sermon based curriculum for all Life Groups to utilize Assist in the development of an annual departmental budget and manage spending to budget. Build connections with active and new Northview attendees so that even if the attendees aren’t ready for a group now, the attendees will have a relationship with the Pastor whenever  ready. Able to preach, teach or host on Sunday mornings

Other Pastoral Duties Perform shared pastoral care through counseling, weekly hospital visitation, weddings and funerals as directed by Lead Pastor.
