Discipleship Pastor
Position Summary
This role includes adult discipleship, small groups, leadership development, family ministry partnership, and teaching/preaching responsibilities. The Discipleship Pastor will design and champion pathways for spiritual growth, mentor leaders, and foster a culture of multiplication in every ministry area.
Key Responsibilities
1. Discipleship & Spiritual Formation – 50%
• Develop and oversee a clear discipleship pathway for all stages of life.
• Recruit, train, and equip small group leaders, mentors, and ministry volunteers.
• Provide resources and training for personal and corporate spiritual growth.
• Facilitate classes, Bible studies, baptisms, mentoring, and leadership training opportunities.
2. Family Ministry Support – 15%
• Partner with Children's and Student Ministry leaders to equip parents as the primary disciple-makers in their homes.
• Help create resources, workshops, and training to help families engage in faith conversations.
• Serve as a pastoral presence at key family ministry events as needed.
3. Teaching & Preaching – 15%
• Teach in classes, workshops, and leadership environments (e.g., membership, Starting Point, baptism, leadership training).
• Lead elements of worship services on Sundays (welcome, announcements, Scripture, communion, benediction).
• Preach biblically sound, engaging sermons as assigned by the Lead Pastor.
• Assist with sermon research, content development, and series planning.
4. Leadership & Administration – 15%
• Lead, disciple, and develop ministry leaders and volunteers.
• Assist in setting and evaluating discipleship goals for the church.
• Manage discipleship ministry data, budgets, and resources.
• Collaborate closely with pastors and ministry leaders for church-wide alignment.
• Model and protect a healthy, unified staff culture.
5. Shepherding & Care – 5%
• Provide compassionate, biblical pastoral care and counseling for individuals, couples, and families.
• Lead or oversee baptism and prayer ministries.
• Be available for weddings, funerals, hospital visits, and other pastoral care needs.

Professional
• 7–10 years of ministry leadership experience in discipleship, small groups, or related areas (church of 500+ preferred).
• Proven ability to recruit, train, and develop leaders.
• Strong communicator in both large and small settings, rooted in sound biblical theology.
• Excellent organizational, administrative, and relational skills.
• Bachelor's degree in ministry, theology, or related field (Master's preferred).
• Competent with technology, communication tools, and church management systems.
Work Schedule & Expectations
• Full-time position with flexibility for evenings and weekends as ministry requires.
• Active participation in Sunday services, weekly staff meetings, and key events.
• Commitment to being a visible, relational presence in the life of the church.
• Occasional travel for conferences, training, or mission purposes.
