Position Type: Part-time; Volunteer; Remote

Program and Position Overview: A Volunteer Donor Relations Specialist will play a key role in strengthening and maintaining the vital relationships that support Love Justice International’s mission. By ensuring donors feel valued and appreciated, they will help foster long-term support and engagement, ultimately contributing to the organization’s ability to make a positive impact in the world.

The Donor Relations Specialist Volunteer will report to the Vice President of Advancement. The position will be remote but should be based in the United States.

The duration of this volunteer opportunity is flexible, but we ask for a minimum commitment of 100 hours over the span of 3 to 6 months. Please include a brief cover letter and your resume with your application.

Job Description

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: The primary duties and responsibilities of the  Donor Relations Specialist are the following:

• Donor Engagement:
  • Assist in the maintenance of strong relationships with existing donors through regular communication and personalized interactions.
  • Reach out to potential donors to introduce them to Love Justice International’s mission and encourage their support.
• Communication:
  • Write and send personalized thank-you letters, emails, and cards to donors, acknowledging their contributions and expressing gratitude.
  • Share regular updates and newsletters to keep donors informed about Love Justice International’s activities, impact, and upcoming events.
• Donor Recognition:
  • Assist in the implementation of donor recognition programs to honor and appreciate donors’ contributions.
  • Assist with special recognition events and activities, such as donor appreciation luncheons, awards, and social media shout-outs.
• Event Coordination:
  • Assist in planning and executing fundraising events if they are in your region or state, ensuring donors feel valued and engaged during these events.
  • Assist with the coordination of donor participation in events, including invitations, RSVPs, and follow-up communications.
• Feedback and Reporting:
  • Gather feedback from donors about their experience with Love Justice International and their satisfaction with communication and engagement efforts.
  • Provide regular reports to the development team on donor interactions, feedback, and trends.
• Data Management:
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of donor information, interactions, and contributions in the organization’s database.
  • Ensure donor data is handled with confidentiality and in compliance with privacy regulations.
• Collaboration:
  • Work closely with the development, fundraising, and communications teams to align donor relations efforts with overall organizational goals.
  • Participate in team meetings and strategy sessions when invited in order to contribute insights and ideas for improving donor engagement.
• Creative Input:
  • Develop creative ideas for new ways to engage and appreciate donors, enhancing their connection to Love Justice International.
  • Assist in creating content for thank-you messages, donor newsletters, and social media posts.
• Training and Development:
  • Stay informed about best practices in donor relations and fundraising, attending training sessions and workshops as needed.
  • Share knowledge and skills with other team members and volunteers to improve overall donor engagement efforts.

Qualifications: The qualifications for this position are the following:

• Mature Christian faith and agreement with our Global Value to “Abide in Christ”
• Strong commitment to fighting injustice and advocacy on behalf of vulnerable populations
• Some college preferred
• Some experience in one or more of the following: customer care, communications, marketing, sales, hospitality, fundraising
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with donors.
• A friendly, outgoing, and grateful attitude.
• Passion for the mission of Love Justice International and a desire to contribute to its success.
• Experience with donor databases and data management is a plus.
