The Elementary and Special Needs Coordinator organizes and implements all elements related to ministry to Elementary-aged children and their families. Job Title: Elementary and Special Needs Coordinator
Purpose Statement:
The Elementary and Special Needs Coordinator, along with the Sunday Ministries team, exists to ignite a passion to follow Jesus in the lives of children (birth – 6th grade) and their families. The Elementary and Special Needs Coordinator organizes and implements all elements related to ministry to Elementary-aged children and their families. This role is under the direction of the Assistant Pastor of Children’s Ministries.
Reports to:
Assistant Pastor of Children’s Ministries
Responsibilities:
Volunteer Recruitment and Development
- Fill all roles in Elementary ministries with capable volunteers.
- Interview, onboard, train, and equip volunteers to carry out College Park’s vision for discipleship of the next generation.
- Identify future leaders and create training pipeline to equip for leadership roles.
- Regularly communicate with and care for volunteers.
Ministry Coordination
- Oversee all elements related to Sunday Morning Elementary Ministry including:
- Classroom experience, including implementation of Truth78 curriculum.
- Physical spaces associated with Elementary.
- Parent communication.
- Ministry to children with special needs and their families.
- Leadership and physical presence on Sunday mornings.
- Responding to volunteer requests.
- Plan and lead regularly-occurring Children’s special programming (Easter, kidREACH, Kids 4 Missions, End of Year Parties, etc.)
- Assist with major Children’s Ministries events (kidTHINK, Summer events, etc.)
General Responsibilities
- Attend all church and department staff meetings and events required for this position.
- Assist with the development and application of the vision for Children’s Ministries at College Park.
- Together with the Children’s and Student teams, strengthen the partnership between the church and parents to nurture the faith of children and students.
- Plan and participate in additional Children’s-specific and churchwide events as directed.
- Complete any additional task delegated down from the Pastor of Students and Sunday Ministries.
- Additional duties as directed.
Candidate Profile:
- This role requires strong technical skills, including ability to quickly grasp and troubleshoot programs such as Ministry Platform, Planning Center, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- This role requires strong leadership ability, communication skills (both written and verbal), and ability to make decisions independently.
- Candidate must exhibit mature Christian character which includes regular disciplines such as Bible reading, prayer, and participation in church life.
- Candidate needs to either be a current member of College Park Church or willing to pursue membership within 6 months.
Education & Skill Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Teaching Experience preferred
- Familiarity with College Park Church culture and environment preferred
Work Schedule:
- This is a part-time, hourly and non-exempt role totaling approximately 25-29 hours per week
- Weekly schedule will vary depending upon event and ministry needs, but Sundays are required.
- Attendance at staff meetings and other staff functions required
