Description:

• The English Ministry Assistant Pastor will primarily focus on shepherding the college and young adults in the English Ministry.
• (Note: This is Abe Kim, the EM Lead Pastor. I have been serving at Bethel since 2015. I was previously serving as the college pastor and recently transitioned to be the lead pastor of the English Congregation. I am looking for a faithful minister to shepherd our growing congregation alongside me and our other staff!)

Responsibilities:

• Shepherd through providing teaching, discipleship, pastoral care and leadership
  • For our college ministry (Bethel College Fellowship)
  • For our young adults (Light and Salt Ministry)
• Participate in the English Ministry Pastoral Staff Team
  • Preaching & Teaching for the EM as needed (about 6-10 times a year)
  • Assist in other areas of the church when called upon and if able

Position Qualifications:

• An ideal candidate has:
  • Completed M.Div from accredited seminary
  • Ordained or seeking ordination in a Reformed and Presbyterian denomination
  • Christ-like compassion and character
  • Experience in a Korean American and/or English Ministry context
• An ideal candidate has a heart for:
  • Gospel-centered ministry and pastoral care
  • Team ministry
  • Ministry to our emerging generation within a Korean American and Korean immigrant church setting

Description of Organization:

• Bethel Korean Presbyterian Church in Ellicott City, Maryland is a Korean immigrant church located in the suburbs of Baltimore and Washington D.C. Founded in 1979, Bethel Church has been a long-standing witness of the gospel in the Baltimore suburbs.
• Bethel subscribes to Westminster Standards and our full-time pastors are ordained in Reformed denominations. Our average Sunday English Ministry adult attendance is around 250 and is growing. The English Ministry has our own groups of elders and deacons and we have a healthy partnership with the Korean Ministry. Most of our congregation are connected through our thriving small group ministry, family ministry, men’s and women’s ministry.
• Currently, we have students who attend our church from University of Maryland, UMBC, Towson University, Johns Hopkins University, and MICA. We also have homegrown students who attend schools out of state.
• We have a growing young adult population who have been getting plugged into the Light and Salt ministry, men’s and women’s ministries and our small groups. Many are serving in various capacities in our English ministry and in our youth ministries.
