Events and Communications Director

Job Summary:
The Neighborhood Church is seeking a highly organized, creative, and mission-driven Events and Communications Director to oversee church-wide communications and coordinate impactful events that bring our community together and support Jesus' mission of bringing His Kingdom. This role will lead strategic communication efforts across multiple platforms and manage the planning, promotion, and execution of church events.
This position is perfect for someone who loves telling meaningful stories, is great with social media and technology, thinks about big picture discipleship pathways, is self-driven by mission, and is passionate about helping people connect with the local church.
We do more event days than most churches you'll encounter as it's a primary strategy for reaching our neighbors. The events director at our church is at the heart of who we are and carries that heart into our community.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Communications:
- Develop and manage a comprehensive communication strategy for the church
- Oversee all digital and print communications including weekly emails, website content, print materials, text services, social media, and signage
- Ensure brand consistency and excellence in all internal and external messaging
- Collaborate with ministry leaders to promote events, classes, and church initiatives
- Manage the church website and ensure timely content updates
- Produce creative content (graphics, video scripts, newsletters, stories) that communicates the gospel and mission of the church
Event Planning & Coordination:
- Plan, organize, and execute church-wide events (E.G The Sunflower Festival, the Pumpkin Patch, Nativity Lights, and special needs outreaches)
- Work alongside ministry teams to support events with logistics, promotion, and volunteer coordination
- Maintain an annual events calendar and lead event planning timelines, SOPS, and task management
- Ensure events are aligned with the church's vision, well-communicated, and executed with excellence
Team & Volunteer Management:
- Recruit and lead volunteers or interns to assist with communication and event tasks
- Coordinate with tech, worship, and facilities teams for event needs
- Build and maintain vendor relationships (e.g., printers, caterers, rentals, etc.)
Qualifications:
- A committed follower of Jesus with a heart for the local church
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Detail-oriented with excellent project management and organizational skills
- Creative thinker with experience in branding, marketing, or storytelling
- Proficient in design and communication tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Planning Center, Constant Contact, Zeffy, Text in Church, etc.)
- Experience with social media events, strategy and content creation
- Event planning and coordination experience
- Team player with a humble, flexible, and collaborative spirit
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Event Management, or related field (preferred)
