Job Overview

The Executive Director assists the Campus Pastor in supporting the vision and direction of Woodside Bible Church. This includes having a firm grasp on the purpose, values, and strategy of the church, with the ability to align leadership, staff, and volunteers with Woodside Bible Church’s mission, vision, and values. This role 1) sets the leadership tone for the campus in alignment with the values, (2) provides pastoral leadership and direction to the pastors/directors responsible for many of the core ministries (Students, Kids, Outreach, Adult Discipleship, etc.), 3) ensures that the systems, practices, budget, and policies of the campus responsibly and effectively support the ministry activities and align to central DNA, (4) assists the Campus Pastor in determining and fulfilling the goals, initiatives, and work of the ministry for the campus, 5) develops, implements, and oversees church-wide processes that help people know what their next steps are with God, so they replicate disciples.

Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership and Planning: The Executive Director participates in strategic planning, staff coordination, and completing the goals of Woodside’s campus trajectory. This includes:

  • Leads staff leadership meetings and other activities to clarify and execute goals and objectives, as needed
  • Monitors the spiritual pulse of the ministries through consistent reviews and accountability
  • Ensures staffing, facilities, and programs are effectively aligned to meet strategic goals
  • Continues to champion, in all areas, the mission, vision, and goals of the church
  • Coaches and assists (as needed) all ministry departments as they build their ministry plans, budgets, and specific campus initiatives
  • Completes monthly dashboard to be shared with Campus Pastor for the purposes of accountability, goal setting, objective planning, updates, personal health, and spiritual health
  • Reports all key metrics and goals for the campus to the Campus Pastor

Staff Supervision and Development: The Executive Director serves as director and mentor of selected campus staff members and key volunteers. This includes:

  • Builds a productive and scalable staff through the recommendation of policies and procedures, participates in the development of job descriptions and hiring of staff, proposes appropriate staff adjustments, and resolves conflicts
  • Works with HR/Finance to implement salary reviews and recommendations relevant to areas of direct responsibility
  • Oversees and provides staff leadership training and development for campus staff
  • Maintains efficient and effective lines of communication between campus staff, Campus Pastor, Central staff, and local community so that all have clarity and campus goals are effectively reached
  • Conducts regular performance evaluations, providing ongoing informal performance feedback, and reports to the Campus Pastor regarding ministry activity and performance
  • Oversees adherence to church policies and procedures

Pastoral Care: The Executive Director assists the Campus Pastor and staff team in overall discipleship and congregational care needs by:

  • Pursues mentoring relationships with staff members as God leads, with the goal of discipleship and leadership multiplication
  • Monitors congregational care needs and, when necessary, shares with other pastors in hospital visitation, home visits, counseling, marriages, and funerals

Assimilation Hub Leader:

  • Leads and manages the process of helping people take their next steps in order that they would meet, know, and follow Jesus
  • Executes the vision of Assimilation ministry through strategic planning, implementation and alignment with ministry constants, ongoing evaluation of environments, and oversight of the ministry budget
  • Encourages Assimilation volunteers through prayer, spiritual direction, and the development of a fun, engaging, creative, and relational team environment
  • Generates increased awareness of in-church serving opportunities with an understanding of the landscape of the campus, and responds to inquiries for connection
  • Recruits, trains, and leads volunteers for all areas of weekend team (welcome, parking lot, ushers, Connection Desk, etc.)
  • Oversees the schedule and coordination of the weekend Welcome Team and other serving teams
  • Develops and implements effective systems of training, accountability, and communication for group leaders and volunteers
  • Available as a point person on Sundays in the lobby between services to meet people and assist with answering questions about Next Steps and Assimilation
  • Ensures the lobby environment is clean, clear, and connecting (for the first-time guest). This includes signage and Connect desk. This may include ordering, preparing, and distributing welcome gifts
  • Oversees process of engagement and follow up of first-time guests

 

Spiritual Responsibilities

  • Ensures that all actions performed within the context of this position accomplishes and furthers the mission, vision, and values of Woodside Bible Church (Belong, Grow, Reach)
  • Incumbent adheres to the Statement of Faith as established and approved by Woodside Bible Church
  • Incumbent is a member in good standing, participates in praying, giving, serving, worshiping and attends special events as an active member of the church
