The Big Idea
United behind new Lead Pastor, Matthew Ro, Ridgeway Alliance Church has entered a new chapter after emerging from some turbulent years marked by leadership transitions, cultural shifts and organizational challenges. Galvanizing the congregation is the church's recent focus on prayer, discipleship and its mission to "Renew Culture for Christ by being with Christ, becoming like Christ, and bringing others to Christ." The church recognizes its need for an Executive Director/Pastor who can bring operational stability, develop a healthy staff culture and implement systems that support ministry effectiveness. The church is energetic, relational, full of love for Christ, but also in need of operational maturity.
The Church
Affiliation: Christian & Missionary Alliance Attendance: 450 (adults and children) About: Sunday services are at 9 and 11 a.m. The worship service is vibrant and welcoming of the Holy Spirit. The music is contemporary, with a desire to reflect musical diversity–including hymns. Ridgeway's ministry footprint is broad, reflecting its multi-ethnic, multi-generational congregation, and it is growing. $1.5M budget, no debt.
Job Description
The Candidate
The next Executive Director/Pastor will demonstrate a vibrant walk with Christ and bring a mature faith and seasoned leadership. Clearly called to the "second chair," this leader will not compete or overshadow the Lead Pastor, but find joy and energy in freeing up Pastor Matthew to focus on the ministry areas to which God has uniquely called him. Operational excellence and financial acumen are non-negotiable for this role as this leader will be responsible for building systems and processes that bring organizational clarity, structure and accountability across staff management, policies, communication and ministry execution. With wisdom and discernment, this person will pace implementation, ensuring staff are trained, resourced and bought into decisions. The Executive Director/Pastor will see the staff and key lay leaders as their primary flock, developing their gifts and empowering them for ministry. This person must be highly detail-oriented, disciplined, known for reliability and a strong work ethic.
The Location
White Plains, NY, is a lively city in Westchester County offering a blend of suburban and urban living, located about 25 miles north of Manhattan. It features a bustling downtown with shopping and dining, easy access to transportation including Metro-North Rail and major highways, and a significant historical background as the site of the New York Provincial Congress's adoption of the Declaration of Independence. Key features include a vibrant local culture, great amenities, diverse cuisine, good schools and status as a commercial hub.
The Qualifications
Must be a born-again believer, devoted to God's Word, and empowered by the Holy Spirit. Will bring a mature faith, seasoned leadership, and personal integrity that others will want to emulate; Theologically aligned with the Christian & Missionary Alliance; Master's degree preferred; Bachelor's degree with significant relevant work experience may be considered – a degree in Business, Finance or Management at the undergraduate or graduate level is ideal. Significant organizational and operational experience, including supervision, leadership and development of multiple paid staff members. Expertise in financial and organizational management. Spiritually mature and relationally connected. Exceptional communication skills. Significant lay leadership experience if coming from the marketplace.
