Executive Pastor / Associate Pastor / Director of Operation

Job Overview

The Executive Pastor/Director of Operations will support the Lead Pastor and Elders by carrying out the strategic plan to carry out the vision and mission of APCC. The XP/DoO will also oversee the administration/operations of the church, providing oversight for Sunday worship service, staff, ministry teams, outreaches, and other church events.

Job Description

The ideal candidate is a faithful and fruitful follower of Jesus who is gifted administratively with a heart for Jesus and the local church. The candidate must have experience in leading and organizing teams and systems and carrying out its mission. The responsibilities of this position focus primarily on carry out the mission of APCC. This individual will work directly alongside the Lead Pastor and be directly accountable to him and/or the elder overseeing the Sunday service and other church activities.

Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of this position focus primarily on preparation for and execution of our Sunday worship gatherings. Key roles and responsibilities include:

  • Being in good standing as a covenant family member at APCC.
  • Work closely and collaboratively alongside the Lead Pastor in carrying out the mission, vision, values of APCC.
  • Assume the primary responsibility for the implementation of the vision and strategic goals of the church.
  • Elder Team (if qualified)
    • Serve on Elder team to plan elder meetings ensuring execution of all action items from elder meetings to relieve the other elders from administrative/management burdens so that the Elders can focus on shepherding and oversight.
    • Primary Elder liaison for HR and Finance, who will coordinate annual budgeting process.
    • Primary Elder liaison to all church deacons/ministry team leaders.
    • Perform general pastoral duties of preaching and teaching, discipleship, leading worship services, and counseling.
  • Church Staff
    • Lead, manage, train, develop, and resource the non-pastoral staff and volunteers of the church, ensuring that they are aligned to the vision and direction of the church.
    • Oversee goal setting, reporting structure, staff meetings, policies, and other duties in conjunction with the Lead Pastor and Elders.
    • Oversee job descriptions for each staff position and oversee the performance review process to ensure staff activity aligns with the changing needs of the church, the needs of the individual staff member, and the staff position responsibilities.
    • Coordinate the work of church staff as needed.
  • Church Ministries
    • Oversee and develop APCC's administrative and ministry infrastructure, systems, and processes for fidelity to Scripture, alignment with APCC's vision, and synergy, efficiency, and scalability.Oversee the coordination and evaluation of ministries throughout the church to ensure ministry leaders and teams are thriving.
    • Ensure that ministries are consistently growing and aligned with APCC's vision, values, and strategic priorities.
    • In collaboration with the Lead Pastor, oversee the discipleship and training process of the church including discipleship classes, leadership development, internship and residencies.

Ministry Skills:

  • Strong organizational leadership and management background, problem-solving and decision-making abilities, proven organizational skills, effective communicator, initiative, team building and leadership development are essential. Must have a proven track record of effective leadership and judgment.
