The Redeemer’s Culture:

We have a very strong & healthy culture here. We are heavily united, we encourage healthy, humble conflict and we rarely face the issues of typical ‘church politics’ or negative conflict amongst overseers and staff. The staff is deeply interpersonal, playful and open with one another.  So we provide this snapshot for you to consider thoroughly whether this is the right context for you:

  • We are socially engaged AND Gospel-centered, holding to the authority of scripture; we are a fast-growing, modern church who has creative ministries serving the most vulnerable in our city. We also hold to a high-view of scripture, and believe each person needs to know the scriptures in-depth. We hold to traditional theological foundations and believe the scriptures should inform our culture even while we seek to meet our community in there deepest needs. We are passionate about doing justice and loving mercy and passionate about teaching the Truth of scripture.
  • We value leaders who have stories; can your articulate your past struggles and pains and the Gospel’s practical influence on your life and apply it to ‘why’ you serve others now? Most of our staff did not previously work at churches and have overcome great challenges.  Therefore you will not find a lot of hyper-religious, insider-based language. We are a very down-to-earth team and highly value the ability to connect with people from all different backgrounds and struggles. We want people to be able to come into Redeemer’s with no church background, past church hurt, or little education and feel like they can understand the Gospel and feel like they are growing and changing with us through the work of the Holy Spirit.
  • We value honesty and humility: Do you have a high emotional intelligence that is keenly aware of your own sins and weaknesses? Are you comfortable talking openly about those and working on those consistently? Can you take honest feedback and always seek growth? One of the top things our congregation knows us for is authenticity and openly confessing our own struggles while teaching others to grow with us. We are not a people who care for pastoral titles or positions of hierarchal importance.
  • We value humor: Between our recovery programs, mental health programs, homeless ministries, and more, we work with very serious issues weekly. To counter-balance that we value a playful spirit and laughter. We are not easily offended by life’s absurdities and difficulties and talk through them. We actively seek to use humor in groups and teaching and seek partners who know how to not sweat the small stuff.
  • We are not a partisan church:  We are diverse in every way: age, race, denominations (mennonites, baptists, pentecostal and catholics make up large portions of our church). In addition, political differences abound here. We remain committed to the Gospel to critique and encourage people of all types. We are serious about what we call ‘The whole Gospel’: We believe in the moral and theological teachings of Scripture as well as the social ramifications of it. We serve the poor and hurting through our non-profit and we teach everyone orthodox theological foundations that are accessible to all. We often confront the idolatry of ideology of both the left and right in our modern politics.

Compensation will be based on experience and education.

$65-80k. We offer health insurance benefits and housing allowance for pastors.
