Job Description
The Facilities Associate (FA) assists the Facilities Manager (FM) in the management of the facilities and property of the church. This position is a ministry of the church, and requires a "capacity" worker, someone who, as directed, is able to work and serve in various aspects of the church ministry and has the initiative, competence, and flexibility to do so.
Objectives Of This Role
The FA is responsible for the cleaning and maintenance of the building and grounds, assisting the FM in accomplishing this. In addition, the FA will work with the FM, staff, and ministry leaders to ensure the readiness and functionality of the facilities for Sunday services, ministry programs, meetings, and events. Particular emphasis is to be placed on maintenance, appearance, security, and improvement of the facilities, including grounds.
Reporting
The Facilities Associate reports to the Facilities Manager. Further, the Facilities Associate will report to the Executive Director administratively, and, like all other staff, is ultimately accountable to the Board of Elders. The Board of Elders may change reporting relationships at its discretion.
This position is full-time, hourly, non-exempt.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities and Duties (including but not limited to)
Assisting the FM in the following areas, including but not limited to:
- Inspect, manage and maintain church grounds to ensure a safe, serviceable, attractive and welcoming usable property. This includes security, lighting, electrical, HVAC, smoke/CO2 detectors and fire extinguishers, furniture, fixtures and equipment.
- Communicate with staff and the congregation around facilities, security and custodial needs including special events and how volunteers can serve in the care of buildings and grounds.
- Scheduling of staff, equipment, and supplies for maintenance and custodial work for events, ministry functions, and Sunday services.
- Development, administration and completion of projects and tasks as directed by the FM and/or Senior Pastor.
- Creation, development and completion of tasks for a Master Open-Items List that includes all areas of the church facility, i.e. office, youth, nursery, kitchen, foyer, grounds etc.
- Development, maintenance and regular use of facility checklists.
- Interact and work with vendors on ordering, researching information, preventive maintenance, programs, service, job completion, etc. as needed.
- Participate in all inspections and drills in compliance with Fire Department standards.
Custodial:
- Responsible for cleanliness and upkeep of building and grounds on a daily basis.
- Ensure availability of tables, chairs, and other items for routine use of ministries.
- Prepare all venues for ministry activities.
Kitchen:
- Inspect and manage equipment for proper operation and compliance with all local ordinances.
- Coordinate with Kitchen Team to ensure proper compliance of local ordinances for usage.
- Provide guidance for equipment as well as Food Handler Certifications & Training.
Sunday Morning:
- Ready the facility for Sunday morning usage.
- Assist as needed in Sunday morning activities and preparations.
- Coordinate logistics for special parking detail and collect vehicle count for each service.
- Ensure the security of the building at the end of the planned services.

Education
- Ability to read and write English fluently and a High School diploma or equivalent.
- Basic computer skills (email, Word, Excel, Google, etc.)
Required Experience
- Have experience working on/in buildings and grounds.
- Ability to interact with people in a professional and courteous manner.
- Ability to meet the following physical demands:
- Ability to perform tasks such as light repair projects, carrying tables and chairs, shoveling snow, climbing ladders, pulling weeds and other outdoor work
- Willingness and ability to work nights and weekends.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to read construction documents.
- Hands-on experience in the areas of carpentry, plumbing, electrical wiring and vehicle maintenance.
- Familiarity with basic audio visual and lighting equipment.
- Familiarity with computer equipment.
- Familiarity with basic OSHA rules and regulations.
- Familiarity with HAZMAT and MSDS.
