Family Pastor
OVERVIEW
The Family Pastor is responsible for leading the church in discipling Kids, Students and their families in a way that equips and encourages maturity in Christ. This is a full-time position that is voted on by the congregation and reports to the Lead Pastor.
The package includes salary and leave benefits.
QUALIFICATIONS + QUALITIES
• Have an active, growing and personal relationship with Christ.
• Meet the requirements of an elder, set forth in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9.
• Have a clear call from God and a passion to disciple and strengthen families.
Sees Family Ministry as a foundational ministry within the context of the local church.
• Have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college and at
least two years of related experience and/or training or an equivalent
combination of education and experience, preferably in youth or family ministry.
• Be able to effectively communicate the Gospel along with any written and spoken communications required for the position.
• Affirm and support the purpose, values, theology, ministry philosophies and methodology of Bethel Baptist Church.
• Have the ability to lead a team of volunteers by casting vision and then organizing the skills and talents of the team to reach their God-given potential as they help others find and follow Jesus.
• Be reliable, self-motivated and well-organized.
• Be a team player — able to collaborate, cooperate and communicate well in a team environment and maintain confidentiality.
• Be proficient in basic computer skills, general software and information systems.
• Willing to build relationships within the church and community at large.
• Participates in the planning and execution of Family Ministry events, such as:
❖ Vacation Bible School
❖ Combined Camp
❖ Church-wide events: Fall Festival, Easter Egg Hunt, etc.
❖ Mission opportunities, retreats and any other trips, camps or events
• Helps recruit ministry volunteers and creates a list of "substitutes" for when emergencies or vacancies occur.
• Ministers to young adults in College & Career through regular phone calls and texts. And encourages them to connect through ministry events and one-on-one meetings so they continue to grow in their faith. Also, intentionally points them toward on-campus ministry opportunities at their respective school.
• Effectively manages personal workflow and prioritization of assignments.
• Serves as an initial counselor for Family Ministry matters such as salvation, baptism, health problems, addictions, sin struggles, and family/friend issues.
• Leads ministry visits of those involved in the Family Ministry and assists or visits others as requested by the Lead Pastor.
• Fosters good communications by ensuring events and opportunities are
promoted in a timely manner via the church's website, social media, bulletin announcements, texts, personal calls, school visits, family visits, etc.
• Assists with and keeps teams within approved budget amounts for all Family Ministry-related activities by properly stewarding church resources: money, supplies, equipment, etc.
• Solicits and provides feedback from church members to leadership to ensure Family Ministry is biblical and effective.
• Understands and adheres to the church's procedural guidelines and policies.
• Assists the Lead Pastor and Nominating Committee in identifying potential Leaders and Teachers.
• Available to assist the Lead Pastor in visitation and counseling as needed.
• Other duties as assigned by Lead Pastor, Deacons or church leadership.
