Job Overview

Faith Church is a multi-generational, Evangelical Free church in Rio Rancho, New Mexico a suburb of Albuquerque. We are seeking a full-time Family Pastor to lead and oversee the student ministry and give leadership oversight and direction to the children's ministry. This role includes partnership with families, staff and volunteers to lead children and students in becoming disciples of Jesus.

Job Description

Summary

The Family Pastor shall lead and oversee the children's and student ministries, manage and care for the support staff and volunteers of the ministries, be responsible for ministry curriculums, giving watch to the spiritual welfare of the children, students and families by providing pastoral care for parents and families.

Qualifications

  • The Family Pastor shall possess the character laid out in accordance with 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:6-9, and 1 Peter 5:1-3.
  • Affirm the EFCA Statement of Faith and Constitution.
  • Be skilled in oversight and care for volunteers.
  • Possess superior oral and written communications skills.
  • Proficient in management and administrative functions.
  • Proficient in the use of modern communications technology.
  • Aspirations of eventually being a lead pastor is not necessary but is preferred.

Education and Experience:

  • Meet minimum education requirements in accordance with EFCA policy. An undergraduate degree is preferred, but not required.
  • Minimum experience two years in children's ministry and or student ministry is preferred but not required.

Primary Responsibilities

Shepherding

  • The Family Pastor shall provide shepherd like care to the children, students and members of the congregation through prayer, counseling and visitation when needed in accordance with church policy.
  • The Family Pastor will provide help, resources and training for parents, who we believe are the primary disciplers of their children, in accord with Biblical ideals.
  • The Family Pastor will be a peacemaker in the church committed to biblical conflict resolution.

Leadership

  • The Family Pastor will lead and cast vision for the children's ministry and student ministry that fits within the whole of the church's vision. This will include Children's Church, Youth Group and other children's and student ministry related items and events.
  • The Family Pastor will be responsible to lead the teachers and volunteer staff in a manner that allows them to faithfully care for the children and students.

Management

  • The Family Pastor will be responsible to manage the children's and student ministry volunteers. This includes any necessary training, teaching and equipping of teachers or volunteers.
  • The Family Pastor will have oversight of scheduling, curriculum, necessary background checks and other management items.
  • This includes recruitment of volunteers for children's and student ministries.

Administration

  • The Family Pastor shall oversee and plan all children's and student ministry events, activities, and outings.
  • Work with Deacon Board to ensure facilities are suitable for the ministry.
  • Create a safe environment for children's and student ministry.
  • Implement and update when necessary security measures for the children's and student ministry.
  • Keep parents involved and informed.
  • Offer help and training to parents with respect to their family.
  • Develop, plan and manage a budget for the ministry area of responsibility.

Work Schedule

A typical work week is Sunday–Thursday, but the schedule is flexible, particularly when there are requirements or responsibilities that fall on weekends or evenings. Faith Church is committed to honoring and protecting the Pastors time with family, and for self. However, there are key times and hours that he will be expected to be available in the office. There is an expectation that he will attend regularly scheduled meetings and events with other pastoral staff.

Pay and Benefits:

  • Expected range for starting salary will likely be in $48,000-$60,000 range. Actual amount will be determined by the Elder Board and will be based on education and experience.
  • You will receive an additional $400 per month for retirement fund contribution.
  • A moving allowance will be determined by the Elder Board related to your current location.
  • Church ministry budget lines to help with ministry-related expenses.
  • Health benefits are not included.
  • 4 weeks of paid vacation and 2 personal days per year.
  • 8-week Sabbatical every 5 years.
  • Sick days are accumulated at one sick day for every two months (max accrual 30 days).
  • A private furnished office will be provided in the church building.
