Job Summary

The Family Pastor will oversee our ministries to children and youth at Victor Baptist Church, with an emphasis on the Youth ministry.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

• Support and champion the Vision, Mission, and Values of Victor Baptist Church amongst the congregation and in the community at large.
• Seek to implement ideas/events that will continue to reach out to unchurched families in our community
• Provide care and support for children/students and their families through encouragement, training, mentoring, providing of resources, etc.
• Continually thinks of ways to better implement relational discipleship to children, youth, and Parents connected to VBC.

Provide oversight for the following ministries at VBC, including the oversight of curriculum, raising up leaders, and recruitment of volunteers:

• Junior Church (during our adult worship time), Kids Sunday School classes for children and pre-teens, Nursery Ministry during both worship and Sunday School, Kids Club (Wednesday Nights, 4yrs to 5th grade), Ignite Student Ministry (Wednesday Nights, grades 6-12), Vacation Bible School (once per summer).
• Provide regular opportunities for fun, learning, and serving for children through activities and events.
• Provide regular opportunities for fun, learning, and serving for students (grades 6-12) through activities, events, and/or mission trips.
• Provide regular opportunities for family ministry (i.e., support systems, family activities).
• Participate in the overall life of surrounding communities through volunteering or connecting (especially in the schools) to build relationships and bring in more students.
• Participate in weekly staff meeting with Lead Pastor, and other leadership as needed.
• Goals will be set for each ministry (Children and Students), both spiritual and numeric.
• Personal life goals will be set and worked toward in mutual accountability with the Lead Pastor.
• Participate in the pastoral care of the congregation with special emphasis given to children/students and their families.
• Participates in ongoing ministry training with Lead Pastor in preparation for greater future ministry.
• Fill in pulpit and handle delegated pastoral duties as assigned by the Lead Pastor.

The Family Pastor reports directly to the Lead Pastor at Victor Baptist Church.

This Family Pastor job would probably be ideal for someone who has been a Youth Pastor, and is ready to take on more responsibility on top of running the Youth, as well as someone looking to learn and be equipped for greater future pastoral ministry (which would happen under the mentorship of the Senior Pastor)!

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
• No Seminary Degree Necessary.
• Family Man Preferred (Married)
• Willing to learn and grow.
• Will be trained and equipped in our church’s discipleship process.

Victor Baptist Church is a church that has doubled in size over the last 18 months, after hiring a new Senior Pastor, and has been in a season of revival, seeing so many people come to Christ. Our church is based in the small, rural town of Victor Iowa, and draws people from so many surrounding towns. Our current average weekly attendance is around 200.
