Family Pastor

Principle Function

The Family Pastor is a God-called and Scripture-qualified ordained Pastor whose primary role is to shepherd and oversee the family ministries of Wayne Hills Baptist Church.

Position Requirements

  1. Adhere to the Scriptural qualifications of an elder as outlined in 1 Tim. 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5- 9. a.
  2. Agreement with the BFM 2000 and the Nashville Statement
  3. Sign the Church Covenant and become an Active Member
  4. Adherence to the WHBC Employee Handbook.
  5. The Family Pastor is expected to be a servant leader who lives an exemplary life that models the call, character, and competencies that are becoming a minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
  6. Ability to work with a plurality of Elders and the Senior Pastor.
  7. Ability to delegate and work with teams to accomplish ministry.
  8. Maintain a primary emphasis on leading the family ministries (Birth-12th Grade & Young Adults), including leadership of volunteers and equipping parents.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Family Pastor

Family Ministry Responsibilities

  1. Oversee the entire family ministry of the church. Responsibilities include oversight of intentional weekly discipleship, coordination of small group gatherings for youth and young families, and the planning of quarterly activities and annual events emphasizing engaging multigenerational connections.
  2. Develop a family ministry leadership team composed of family ministry leaders, parents, and the Children's Coordinator to equip, encourage, and direct them throughout the year.
  3. Develop young family small groups within the church with direct hands-on involvement.
  4. Oversee the family ministry calendars and budgets.
  5. Encourage, Equip, and minister to families through direct involvement, teams, or programs.

Children's Ministry Responsibilities

  1. Lead and work with a children's coordinator who will recruit and develop volunteers for the nursery and children for the Sunday Morning nursery programs, Sunday Morning Sunday School, and Children's Church.
  2. Partner with parents and children's leaders to grow children into true disciples of Jesus who will go into the world and make an impact for Christ.

Youth Ministry Responsibilities.

  1. Recruit and Develop teams of volunteers for youth ministry programs and events.
  2. Partner with parents and youth leaders to grow youth into true disciples of Jesus who will go into the world and make an impact for Christ.

Other Responsibilities

  1. Assist the Senior Pastor with Sunday morning worship responsibilities, including preaching, praying, making announcements, and coordinating youth and children's participation in the service.
  2. Attend a weekly staff meeting.
  3. Involvement in other church ministries based on gifts, interest, and time available is encouraged.
  4. Assist the Senior Pastor with visitation, counseling, and other ministerial tasks as needed.

Education and Experience

  1. A Bachelor's Degree in Theological/Biblical Studies or a Master's Degree in Theological/Biblical Studies.
  2. A minimum of 2 years in ministry is preferred.

Family Pastor Compensation Range

  1. Financial compensation is $58,000-$73,000, depending on the candidate's education and experience. There are no health benefits for this position.
