FOOD SERVICE GENERAL MANAGER

JOB DESCRIPTION
The primary function is to ensure excellent customer service, maximize profitability, and maintain a positive work environment. The G.M. leads a team of employees, implements company policies and procedures, and upholds quality and safety standards. Other tasks include procurement, scheduling, staff development, menu planning, and recipe implementation in multiple locations.
Reports To: Guest Services Director, Jenn Mitroff
Job Purpose: To help bring Christ-like change in people's lives by providing outstanding meals and excellent customer service, and a healthy staff culture.
Overall Responsibility:
- Menu planning and implementation including recipe development, procurement, inventory control, and waste mitigation
- Schedule and supervise all hourly kitchen staff, seasonal staff, & volunteers
- Assist and participate in cleaning projects and managerial tasks as necessary to meet policy and procedural compliance
- Assist in training and ongoing development of full-time, seasonal, hourly staff and volunteers
- Maintains leadership in modeling cleanliness, readiness and food quality standards
- Administration responsibilities include documentation and execution of food safety plans, daily checklists, and stock rotation on a shift-by-shift basis
- Monitor food preparation and storage to ensure adherence to New Mexico food safety standards
- Clean and maintain all kitchen appliances, equipment, and areas where food is served
- Communicate professionally and effectively with guests about all areas of the dining experience which includes allergen information
- Evaluating all unexpected occurrences and implementing appropriate responses (i.e. adjusting prep sheets, sourcing additional product)
- Oversee meal prep, planning, and cleaning for guests in multiple locations across campus.
Skills and Abilities:
- A personal relationship with Christ
- Ability to manage peers, full time staff, summer, seasonal and hourly staff in a positive and respectful way
- Strong work ethic
- Highly organized administrator with an eye for detail
- Excellent personal hygiene
- Strong sense of urgency and timeliness
- A servant's heart, with a strong calling toward hospitality
- Problem-solving skills, ability to think quickly to adjust plans and still achieve desired outcomes
- Speaking and understanding Spanish is not required but would be helpful,
Work Context: This job will be performed primarily on location at the Glorieta, New Mexico
Physical Demands:Ability to lift 50 lbs, stand for many hours consecutively while working in the kitchen, bend or squat while cleaning, climb stairs, and be around strong cleaning chemicals on a daily basis
Ability to work late at night and early in the morning and some days for many hours consecutively
Work Environment: Will work indoors and outdoors in hot or rainy weather conditions, on slippery surfaces, around hot appliances, and may be required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
Training: Kitchen employees will be given opportunities for improvement through appropriate training.
Compensation: Hourly wage including overtime, health reimbursement plan, PTO, on-site housing, See HR and/or potential supervisor for details.
