Foster Care Recruiter – GAP Ministries
POSITION: Foster Care Recruiter (NON-EXEMPT)
PAY RANGE: $16.00 per hour up to $20.50 per hour (DOEE)
REPORTS TO: Foster Care Program Director
- JOB SUMMARY: As Foster Care Recruiter, the applicant will be responsible for identifying, engaging, and guiding prospective foster and adoptive families through the licensing and onboarding process. This role involves outreach, marketing, and community engagement to promote awareness of foster care needs, as well as supporting applicants through orientation and training. This position is familiar with the Child Welfare participants, Department of Child Safety policies and procedures, and coordinates with coworkers in the area of Foster Care Licensing. This position reports to the Foster Program Director.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Oversee coordination of Foster Care Licensing Information Sessions, training and support group meetings.
- Responsible for the collection and tracking of inquiry data, timely uploading of reports, and other program related oversights.
- Ensure compliance of Licensing parameters per contract guidelines, with program policies and state licensing or certification requirements, and to maintain directives of contractual agreement with DCS.
- Provide an awareness of potentially serious concerns, which may arise during education/training of foster and/or adoptive parents and alert the respective Foster Family Specialist or Program Director of such concerns.
- Recruit, screen, register, and train foster and/or adoptive parents, while tracking and documenting as required.
- Responsible for training or assisting in the training of foster and/or adoptive parents in the education classes at GAP.
- Answering in-bound calls related to Foster Care Licensing and Adoption certification.
- Attend all staff meetings and training sessions, or make arrangements with the Supervisor to be excused.
- Represent GAP to the public in a positive, professional and responsible manner.
- Follow the agency chain of command in a responsible and supportive manner. Be able to accept constructive feedback and suggestions for improvement.
- Follow outlined policies and procedures for dealing with duties and GAP children when applicable.
- Perform other appropriate tasks as assigned by the Program Director, Executive Director, or President.
- Provide exceptional customer service to customers at all times.
- Follow-up with Foster Family Specialist and foster and/or adoptive parents to ensure satisfaction and maintain accurate and complete records to meet DCS requirements.
- Perform office clerical work, such as filing and organizing.
- Work as a team player and contribute to the team accordingly.
- Assist in planning and coordinating outreach events aimed to recruit and retain Foster parents in Southern Arizona.
- Experience in foster care, adoption, recruitment, or a related area is highly desirable.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Be emotionally able to display warmth and able to enjoy and be comfortable with active, often aggressive and disorganized children and/or adults.
- Have personal attitude, conduct and standards representing those qualities and values reflected in the ministry.
- Be able to respect and work cooperatively with a variety of persons, including foster and/or adoptive parents, coworkers, members of the board, representatives of social service agencies, the public, and volunteers.
- Have the ability to stay calm in tense situations and utilize common sense and logic.
- Preference is given to individuals who are bilingual and/or who hold Master degrees in social work, family and marriage studies, child development, or related fields.
- Excellent writing skills, good oral communication skills and the ability to manage time effectively.
- Able to type at least 40 words per minute.
- Ability to maintain accuracy and confidentiality at all times required.
- Must be a self-starter with excellent interpersonal and communications skills with a talent for customer service.
- Must be efficient with strong attention to detail; ability to prioritize tasks.
- Must have strong skills in organization and planning; demonstrated ability to work independently and
- exercise sound judgment and problem solving.
REQUIREMENTS:
- At least a high school diploma or equivalency diploma, and one year experience in working with children; or one-year post-high school education in a program leading to a degree in the field of child welfare or human services.
- Minimum of two (2) years' experience in child welfare.
- Be available Monday-Friday days and evenings, and weekends as needed.
- Broad understanding of DCS, the field of Foster Care, Child Welfare, Prevention, and Intervention is a plus.
- Successfully pass FBI fingerprint clearance, criminal history check through the Department of Economic Security, and independent background check.
- Three personal reference checks of those listed on application as well as one business reference and employment verification of last 2 years of employment.
- Valid driver's license, 36-month safe driving record (MVR) from Department of Motor Vehicles and auto insurance meeting DCS minimum coverage requirements. Staff 22-25 years of age must have a 100% clean driving record. Over 25 years of age maximum of two moving violations or at fault accidents in any combination in the past 3 years and no major violations in the past 3 years.
- Must pass mandatory drug screen and physical examination as required by appropriate licensing authority.
- Proficient in the use of a personal computer and corresponding programs; preferably experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Gmail and Google Calendar or similar web-based and computer programs.
- Successful completion of staff training courses in: Behavior Management, Conflict Resolution, Foster Parent College, CPI and TBRI.
- Attend on-going training sessions during employment as required.
- Successfully obtain and maintain First Aid and CPR certification and documentation.
- Utilize own vehicle for trainings, home meetings, other word related duties, if necessary. (Mileage is reimbursed.)
- Be physically fit to perform job duties outlined in Job Description. Obtain medical release/permission to fulfill all physical tasks should any health issue develop or emerge.
