Groups Director – 12 South Congregation
Job Overview
The Small Groups Director – 12 South works closely with the 12 South Pastor & Executive Director to execute the vision of small groups that are biblical, intentional, relational, and reproducible in the life of the 12 South congregation. Small Groups are one of the primary vehicles by which 12 South congregants have an opportunity to engage in gospel-centered relationships where there is a commitment to maturing in Christ together, in a community/fellowship of 4-16 other 12 South congregants.
Job Description
Functions & Responsibilities:
- Recruiting – Through various pipelines, identifying prospective new leaders and apprentices, and working relationally to assess their readiness to lead and inviting them to leader training opportunities.
- Training & Equipping – Building upon existing training tools and materials to effectively train and equip prospective new leaders to be prepared to lead or apprentice a small group. Including identifying the appropriate role a prospective leader/apprentice should undertake. This is accomplished through larger, smaller, and at times, possibly individual training sessions that are spread throughout the year.
- Leader Care & Support – Doing the ongoing hard but rewarding work of relationally knowing the small group leaders/apprentices, their individual needs spiritually, emotionally, and physically, and providing resources as appropriate to help support them and be aware of any care needs they or their group may have. Dreaming and executing creative ways to foster community among leaders and shared opportunities for leader care.
- Leader Celebration – Responsible for dreaming, planning, and executing leader celebration gatherings two times per year, and 1 – 2 leader appreciation "hits" during the year. Creatively thinking of new ways of celebrating and showing appreciation for the labors of leaders.
- Group Management – Executing the process by which prospective group participants land in a small group. Trouble shooting group space issues. Maintaining accurate group rosters and details.
- Participates in the Midtown Small Groups Co-op and coordinates with the Groups Administrative Director for the Midtown Fellowship movement.
Key Initiatives:
- Increasing number of trained and ready small group leaders
- Increasing total participant space availability by championing leader recruitment and different pipelines of new group formation
- Increasing small group participation in other aspects of church life (demographic ministry event participation, service opportunities, etc.)
Education, Skills & Experience:
- The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience leading and developing individuals
- An active and committed Christian faith with beliefs and lifestyle consistent with the doctrine of the PCA.
- Strong gifting in leadership and administration (required)
- History of leading gospel-centered small groups
- Additional skills and experience:
- Leads teams with authority and good humor
- Embraces challenges with creativity, experimenting with and evaluating novel solutions
- Prioritizes competing tasks/projects and manages time well
- Delegates willingly and develops others
- Personal Characteristics:
