Guys Minister
Job Overview
The Guys Minister position is a relational, teaching, and coordinating role for man called to student ministry who has a heart for evangelism and discipleship. This minister will partner with parents, volunteers, and local youth ministers to help make followers of Jesus of the next generation in suburban/rural community outside of Birmingham.
The hours are flexible. Could be a great position for a seminary student or possibly the right undergraduate student.
Job Description
Bigtime Chelsea Guys Minister (6th – 12th Grade Students) Part Time
TEACHING/PLANNING/LEADING (10 hours/week) A. In a loving, personal relationship with Jesus and a call to serve Him in full time ministry. B. Commitment to a local church through membership, attendance, service, and giving. C. Available two mornings each week from 7:00 am-7:45 am to support and teach middle school Bible Study groups. These groups of 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students from Chelsea Middle School meet mid-August to mid-May. (4 hours/week) D. Develop, train, and evaluate guys' high school D-group leaders. (1 hour/week) E. Oversee the network of guys' high school D-groups meeting weekly across the Chelsea community. (1 hour/week) F. Attend guys' high school D-groups weekly; 1 per week (9th-12th grade). (3 hours/week) G. Believe in and teach according to the gospel-centered mission and values of Bigtime Ministries. H. Communicate with parents, students, and Bigtime staff and volunteers and board through emails, calls, texts and in person meetings in a timely, efficient, and appropriate manner. (2 hours/week)
RELATIONSHIPS WITH STUDENTS AND FAMILIES (4 hours/week) A. Plan intentional time with guy students after school/evenings. (1 hour/week) B. Attend sporting/extracurricular activities of students frequently (1 hour/week). C. Plan occasional fun outings with groups of guys outside of Bigtime for ice cream, lunch, etc. (1 hour/week) D. Cultivate partnerships with local youth ministers. (1 hour/week)
ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT (2 hours/week) A. Steward the finances of Bigtime Chelsea in a way that honors God and is consistent with Bigtime's mission and values. B. Assist Bigtime's Director of Administration to maintain bookkeeping records and receipts for operations. (1 hour/week) C. Manage Bigtime Chelsea's Venmo and Regions accounts reporting earnings and expenses to Bigtime's Director of Administration. (1 hour/week) D. Be open and transparent with the Bigtime Chelsea Board, as well as the Bigtime Executive Board, in regards to financial operations and all ministry matters for Bigtime Chelsea.
STAFF ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES A. Spiritually and professionally accountable to the Executive Director of Bigtime. B. Engage in professional and ministerial development.
EVENT PLANNING (4 hours/week) A. Plan and execute student retreats. At least two retreats for guys per calendar year (2 total). (2 hours/week) B. Plan and lead guys' summer activities (ministry training, missions). (1 hour/week) C. Assist staff with other events throughout the year. (1 hour/week)
