The Good Book Company publishes biblical, relevant, and accessible books and resources that help people of every age and stage to know Jesus better, live their lives for him, and share him with others.

The Head of Marketing leads our dedicated and creative global marketing team. They will combine a strong blend of creativity, analytical thinking, and leadership to oversee impactful campaigns that drive book sales, build our brand, and expand our audience. They are also responsible for inspiring the team and interpreting data and insights to shape marketing strategies and optimize performance.

Job Description

Strategic Leadership

  • Oversee multi-channel promotional strategies (social, email, website, print, publicity, etc.) for book launches, backlist promotion, and global brand initiatives across the US, UK, and Australia.
  • Coordinate the paid advertising strategy across Amazon, Google, and Social Media, collaborating with external partners to best leverage these initiatives.
  • Optimize the sales potential of our website and digital communications, utilizing data analysis and automation.
  • Manage marketing budgets.
  • Offer marketing insights in interdepartmental meetings on products, release schedules, events, and publishing decisions. Monitor industry trends, consumer behavior, and competitor activity in secular and Christian publishing to ensure our marketing remains impactful and relevant.
  • Oversee initiatives such as the loyalty program and Ministry Partners program.

Data-Driven Decision Making

  • Utilize analytics tools to track campaign performance, customer engagement, and sales metrics. Translate data into actionable strategies to enhance reach, ROI, and customer retention.
  • Refine customer segmentation and targeting to improve conversions.

Team Management

  • Line-manage Senior Marketing Managers.
  • Chair team meetings to foster unity, innovation, data-literacy, and growth.
  • Oversee team activity, ensuring best practices in email marketing, social media, publicity, content marketing, event-based marketing, and web marketing.
  • Lead the marketing team in continual growth in uses of technology, adapting to trends, and innovating new promotional techniques.

Qualifications

  • Senior marketing and line-management experience.
  • Degree in Marketing or related field.
  • Leadership, communication, and collaboration abilities.
  • Strong numeracy and data-informed strategy skills.
  • Familiarity with data tools such as Google Analytics, Tableau, etc.
  • Proficiency in using digital marketing platforms (Google Ads, SEO tools).
  • An understanding of the pressures and priorities of local church ministry.

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with book sales platforms (Amazon KDP, Goodreads, etc).
  • Experience in a publishing environment.
  • Good organizational & administrative skills.

Other Requirements

  • Willingness to travel to US-based events and conferences as required.
  • Willingness to travel to our UK office once per year.
