Position Overview:

The High School Director/Pastor shepherds the High School (9-12 grade) ministries of First Baptist Church of Junction City (FBCJC). As a minister of the Gospel of Christ, they strive to raise up Christ-centered youth who will impact the church, the community, and the world in His name. In conjunction with the Next Gen Pastor, they initiate, oversee, and evaluate all aspects of discipleship within the youth ministry, including the Sunday night gatherings and other youth activities.

This position may be part-time or full-time depending on the strengths and giftings of the individual.

Job Description

Purpose

Qualifications and Character

  1. Strong personal commitment to the Lord and definite call to serve Him
  2. Clear passion, gifting, and training to meet ministry requirements.
    1. Prefer at least 2 years experience in youth ministry
  3. Demonstrates integrity, humility, and flexibility
  4. A team player who understands how youth fit into the bigger vision of FBCJC
  5. Excellent interpersonal, delegation, time management, and communication skills
  6. A vision for high school youth, with the self-discipline and commitment to pursue that vision.
  7. Affirmed by the church (FBCJC) as a member and leader of the church body.
  8. Willingly submit to the FBCJC mission, vision, beliefs, and Membership Covenant.
  9. Willingly submit and abide by the Employee Handbook and all policies therein

Relationship to the church

  1. The High School Director is first and foremost accountable to the Lord Jesus Christ; secondly to the Spiritual Leader Board. Day to day accountability will be to the Next Gen Pastor.
  2. The High School Director is expected to attend and participate in Sunday services. Staff meetings and other meetings may be required and negotiated as ministry leaders see fit.
  3. The High School Director must model servanthood to the body, as set out in 1 Timothy 3:1-7.
  4. The High School Director will have performance and ministry evaluations after three months, six months, and one year. Annual performance evaluations will be done after the first year of service. Evaluations will be conducted by the Next Gen Pastor and other appointed leaders.

Responsibilities

General Responsibilities

The High School Director is responsible for all ministries to High School students. This includes Sunday night gatherings, outreach, discipleship, and special programs. In conjunction with the Next Gen Pastor, they will execute overall direction, administration, evaluation, and planning for all youth ministries.

Specific Responsibilities

  1. To oversee the High School volunteer teams. The Next Gen Pastor will assist in recruiting and training volunteers.
  2. To coordinate planning with the middle school ministry to ensure continuity of ministry when youth move to the high school ministry program.
  3. To provide communication to parents of youth concerning high school youth activities
  4. To communicate with the Next Gen Pastor and Spiritual Leader Board ministry goals, evaluations, problem solving, and prayer support.
  5. To reach out to area campuses through personal contact, volunteer work, and outreach programs that will attract and minister to unchurched students.

General Leadership and Administrative Responsibilities

  1. To strive to fulfill the mission and vision of FBCJC through the youth ministry and continuing to evaluate the youth ministry in light of the mission and vision.
  2. To participate in worship services as requested and according to gifting.
  3. To assist the Next Gen Pastor in administrative functions for youth ministry, including promotion, long-term planning, and budgeting.
  4. To make spiritual growth a priority through regular personal Bible study, prayer, service, and occasionally through retreating.
  5. Leaders may perform other related duties as assigned or negotiated to meet the ongoing needs of FBCJC.

Benefits and Compensation

  1. Compensation will be considered annually by the Board, with final approval by the church body.
  2. Paid holidays are: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.
