Position Description: The position of Food Service Manager reports to the Director of Camp Shoshanah Operations and is a seasonal role responsible for institutional food services for the camp staff and attendees. This position requires a committed disciple of Messiah Jesus who physically works at the camp in Keeseville, New York. The role requires a blend of strong leadership skills, business acumen, and a deep understanding of food safety regulations. The Food Service Manager is responsible for managing staff, ordering supplies, maintaining budgets, and ensuring that attendees have a positive dining experience. The ideal candidate for this role is a detail-oriented, customer-focused individual who is able to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Ideally this candidate would be available to work from mid-May through August/Labor Day weekend.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Supervises and coordinates activities of kitchen and dining room staff
- Ensures compliance with health and safety regulations
- Collaborates with cooks and other staff to plan menus
- Manages inventory, budget, financial records, and ordering of supplies
- Prepares food and monitors food preparation and presentation and oversees food and beverage quality control
- Creates and manages staff schedules
- Trains and mentors new employees
- Conducts regular inspections of the kitchen and dining areas, ensuring high standards of hygiene and cleanliness
- Develops and implements procedures to reduce waste and improve efficiency
- Plans and coordinates events or special functions
- Maintains relationships with suppliers and vendors
- Handles complaints and feedback
Required Skills and Attitudes:
- Ability to maintain an enthusiastic, professional, and Messiah-like attitude while working independently
- Feels called by God to serve in this role and agrees with the core beliefs of Ariel Ministries
- Previous experience in a supervisory role within the food service industry
- Knowledge of budgeting and financial management
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in inventory management systems and business operations
- Experience with conflict resolution, problem-solving, and decision-making
- Bachelor's degree in hospitality management or related field
- Certification in food safety or food handling
- Previous experience in the food service industry
- Leadership and managerial skills with a strong attention to detail
- Ability to stand for long periods and perform physical tasks
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
- Eligible to work in the US
