Internal Communications Specialist
Job Overview
The Internal Communications Specialist is integral to East-West and the People Advancement department, and is responsible for defining and driving East-West's internal communication strategy. This role transcends traditional communication, focusing on producing high-quality materials with the ultimate goal of fostering a deeper sense of understanding and engagement across the organization. The specialist will seek to shape a vibrant internal culture where our team is knowledgeable (engaged, informed, and aligned), valued, and inspired, directly contributing to a unified and empowered global workforce, essential for advancing East-West's mission to reach the unreached.
This position is responsible for playing their part to achieve the bigger mission of East-West and for ensuring that all communication strategies are clearly aligned with East-West Vision, Mission, Values, Statement of Faith, and Biblical principles.As an ambassador of faith in Christ and rooted in Biblical principles, this position will actively minister to East-West leadership, staff, partners, and the community in a manner that exhibits Christ-like character through personal and corporate spiritual disciplines.
Job Description
Essential Duties, Responsibilities, and Ministerial Activities
- Intrinsic and overarching duties
- Steward East-West operations, donations, and assets, recognizing that all must give an account (Proverbs 16:8; Matthew 25:14-30; Luke 12:41-48)
- Ensure internal communications are of the highest level since all work is an offering to the Lord (Exodus 35:4-40:38; Colossians 3:23, 24)
- Serve East-West constituents, understanding that serving is of higher importance than personal agendas (John 13:12-15; Philippians 2:3-8)
- Develop and Implement Strategic Internal Communication Initiatives
- Craft comprehensive communication plans that align with organizational objectives and foster a highly informed and engaged team at all levels.
- Create and Disseminate Engaging Internal Content
- Produce a wide range of high-quality communication materials, including company-wide emails, intranet articles, executive talking points, video scripts, and presentations for internal communications
- Advise Leadership and Foster Two-Way Communication
- Collaborate closely with senior leadership and department heads to develop and refine key messages for internal audiences.
- Measure Communication Effectiveness and Drive Continuous Improvement
- Monitor and analyze key metrics related to internal communication reach, engagement, and impact to assess effectiveness.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, English, or a closely related field
- 3-5 years of progressive experience in internal communications, corporate communications, or a similar communication-focused role
- Demonstrated experience in developing and executing internal communication strategies that drive employee engagement and information dissemination
- Proven track record of crafting high-quality written content for various internal channels (e.g., emails, intranet, newsletters, presentations)
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and leadership
- Proficiency with internal communication platforms and tools (e.g., email marketing software, intranet content management systems, presentation software)
- Uphold a close and growing relationship with Jesus Christ
