OVERVIEW: Fethiye Community Church (AKA: Fethiye Halk Kilisesi, or FHK) is an
international, English-speaking congregation located on the southwestern coast of Turkey. We
exist to glorify God by making disciples of Jesus Christ among all nations. We are seeking a
godly and mature pastor to serve the English-speaking congregation with humility, gospel-
centeredness, and cross-cultural sensitivity. This individual will work in unity with the Turkish
leadership and congregation to support of the broader vision of the church.
ROLE SUMMARY:
The English-speaking pastor will shepherd and equip the international congregation through
faithful preaching, pastoral care, and leadership. As FHK operates under the oversight of church
members, the pastor will serve in close partnership with them, while honoring the church’s
cultural context and mission.
Primary Responsibilities:
1. Preaching and Teaching
• Faithfully preach the Word of God (expository and gospel-centered).
• Lead Bible studies, discipleship groups, and/or theological training as needed.
• Ensure all teaching aligns with the FHK Statement of Faith and Member Handbook.
2. Shepherding and Pastoral Care
• Provide spiritual care and counsel to individuals and families.
• Visit, pray with, and support members in times of need.• Encourage believers toward maturity in Christ.
3. Worship and Services
• Plan and lead weekly worship gatherings in a spirit of reverence and cultural sensitivity.
• Coordinate with worship teams and other service participants.
4. Leadership and Oversight
• Provide pastoral leadership for the English-speaking congregation.
• Equip and empower volunteers and ministry leaders.
• Work in harmony with Turkish leadership and respect church governance structures.
5. Cultural and Missional Engagement
• Model Christlike cultural sensitivity in a diverse, international setting.
• Build relationships across cultures and promote unity within the body.
• Support the church’s mission among both expats and locals.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Mature believer with a strong personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
• Must meet the biblical qualifications for a pastor (1 Tim 3:1–7; Titus 1:5–9).
• Affirmation and adherence to the FHK Statement of Faith and Member Handbook.
• Gifted in teaching and pastoral care.
• Cross-cultural ministry experience preferred.
• Committed to a team-oriented, servant-hearted leadership model.
• Strong English communication skills (spoken and written).
• Ability to learn and adapt within a Turkish context (language proficiency a plus, but not
required).
• Willingness to shepherd a diverse congregation from a variety of church and cultural
backgrounds.ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
• The position may be self-supported or funded through personal ministry partners and
sending churches.
• The role includes regular interaction with other international ministries and Christian
workers in the region.
• Pastoral oversight is exercised in mutual accountability with FHK leadership and members
and works alongside a group of deacons.
