At Northwest Gospel Church, our family life ministries exist to equip the community of faith to pass on the faith. The Kids Minister will play a vital role in this equipping, coming alongside parents and our volunteer team to see our children grow in their understanding of the gospel. With discipleship at the forefront, the Kids Minister will oversee the areas of Sunday (weekly) and Wednesday (seasonal) kids gatherings, strategy, parent communication, and leader development. This is a great opportunity for a recent graduate, or even a student who could finish their degree online while living rent-free in church-owned housing.
Job Description
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a Kids Minister at NGC, you will wear the following hats:
Weekly Gathering Leader
• One of the primary places that this Kids Minister will live out each of the roles and responsibilities above is in the context of our weekly gatherings. Primary responsibilities will vary week to week, but will include:
1. Large group teaching 2. Discovery Kids volunteer oversight & engagement 3. Nursery team volunteer oversight & engagement
Developer of Leaders • As stated above, the Ministry Team at NGC doesn't simply exist to do ministry, but to equip those who are NGC to do the work of ministry. The person who will thrive in this role will regularly be developing leaders in Kids Ministry, whether that be training a new teacher or working with a nursery volunteer. This includes:
1. Recruiting
- NGC is filled with Christians who are looking to find their purpose and place. This Kids Minister will work alongside the rest of the Discovery Kids team to identify and recruit those who would love to help see our kids discipled.
2. Training
- After recruitment, the training and equipping of volunteers is vital to their success and the discipleship of both the volunteer and our children. This role will be a major part of the equipping process. 3. Care
- We love our volunteers, and want to care for them in real and practical ways. Our Kids Ministers spend time with, pray for, and love our volunteers.
Communications Lead
• In this role, communication is so vital to success. The person who will thrive loves figuring out the best way to say something, knowing that clarity is key. They'll love the written word and verbal communication, and this will show as they dive into:
1. Teaching
- Sunday morning Discovery Kids gatherings
- Seasonal Wednesday night Discovery Kids Live programming
- Parent Discipleship Training

2. Written
- Regular communication with parents and volunteers not only what is happening, but more importantly, why we do what we do Organizational Strategist
• Right now, Discovery Kids is in a major season of growth, and this season has exposed the need for new systems and levels of organization. The person who will thrive in this role will create and maintain systems for:
1. Volunteer engagement 2. Event management 3. Parent discipleship & equipping 4. Sunday morning processes
