About the Lead Children's Minister
Current – A Christian Church is a Jesus-centered community that values transformation and authenticity. Our desire is to help people find Jesus and live sold-out lives for Him in a way that impacts others. We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Children's Minister to lead our children's ministry. This full-time role is responsible for leading all aspects of the Children's Ministry, ensuring a safe, engaging, and spiritually enriching environment for kids and families. The minister will work closely with the church's staff and ministry teams to integrate the children's ministry into the broader church community.
Job Description
The Lead Children Minister's responsibilities include:
SPIRITUAL LEADERSHIP
- The candidate must have a life commitment to Jesus Christ and a lifestyle consistent with biblical principles. They will nurture children's spiritual growth, teach biblical truths, and model a Christ-like lifestyle for volunteers and families.
CURRICULUM & PROGRAMMING
- Expertise in finding and implementing engaging & effective curriculum. This includes planning weekly services, special events, and leading the team. The minister will ensure all programming aligns with the church's core values.
VOLUNTEER MANAGEMENT
- Recruiting, training, supervising, and coordinating a team of volunteers to serve in the ministry is a key responsibility. The role also requires creating a positive & collaborative environment, ensuring all feel valued and well-equipped to serve.
PLANNING & ADMINISTRATION
- The minister handles all administrative and logistical details for the ministry, including managing calendars, reservations, and check-in systems. They must also communicate effectively with other church departments.
PARENT & FAMILY ENGAGEMENT
- The minister is responsible for building strong relationships with parents and families by providing resources to help them disciple their children at home and creating opportunities for family engagement.

Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree preferred
- 3 years of applicable experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Pastoral Care – Must possess an empathetic and caring heart for ministering to children and families.
- Punctuality – Person must be time sensitive, honoring calendars of colleagues, volunteers, and guests.
- Software Familiarity – Familiarity with basic office software. Preferred experience with Planning Center Online, Google Suite, and a basic understanding of production equipment (sound, video, lighting).
- Learner – Must have a hunger to learn new skills, fresh ideas, and better ways of working.
- Spirituality – It is imperative that this person has made a life commitment to Jesus Christ, is in agreement with our beliefs, and has a work history and lifestyle that are consistent with biblical principles. In addition, being fully integrated in the life of the church family is extremely important.
- Communication – This position interfaces with a variety of people, including church staff members, volunteers, guests, and school personnel (who rent the building).
Measurables
- Spiritual Impact- A qualitative review of how well the ministry is fostering spiritual growth in children and families. This includes feedback from parents, volunteers, and church leadership.
- Ministry Growth & Participation- Quantitative tracking of attendance and volunteer recruitment metrics. This will measure the overall health and growth of the children's ministry.
- Program Execution- A review of how events and services are executed, focusing on organization, safety, and excellence. This will be evaluated through event debriefs and feedback from families and leadership.
- Team Cohesion- A qualitative review of interpersonal communication, team morale, and the minister's ability to model community and collaboration with the church staff and volunteer team.
