Job Description

Qualifications:

  • A sense of God's call to serve as pastor, equipped to exposit the word of God with a deep commitment to the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. The pastor must be able to expound, exhort and convince using Biblical doctrine.
  • Being led by the Word of God and Holy Spirit.
  • Ordination and maintaining a good standing with a recognized Christian denomination.
  • Accepting the ACC statement of faith, the constitution and bylaws of this church, and who, upon installation as Lead Pastor, will become a member of this church if he is not one already.
  • A minimum of 5 years of pastoral experience in a similar role, with a proven track record of effective leadership, ministry development, and community outreach.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to connect with a diverse congregation and adapt to various ministry contexts.
  • Strong leadership skills, with a passion for empowering others and fostering a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
  • A deep understanding of and commitment to the Bible, Christian theology.
  • If married, to lead his wife and family in a loving manner, consistent with Christ's call to husbands and fathers.
  • Hindi or Urdu as a second language can be an asset.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Being the church's chief spiritual leader, responsible to the Leadership Council as described in 1 Tim. 3:1-7 and Titus 1:7-9.
  2. Demonstrate the ability to exegete and interpret the Bible, developing and delivering engaging, expository sermons during weekly worship services, as well as on special occasions and events.
  3. Calling the community inside and outside the church to respond to Jesus' call to be born again. Encouraging others to do the same by example and equipping.

  1. Administering the ordinances of the church, namely, the Lord's Supper and Believer's Baptism.

  1. Conducting child dedications, affirmations of faith, weddings, funerals and related functions.

  1. Visiting the sick and those in need of comfort and prayer in hospitals and homes to encourage, counsel and pray with them.

  1. Being an ex-officio member of the Leadership Council and of all departments and committees of the church if requested.

  1. Approving staff employees and exercising supervision along with the leadership council over their ministry and work.

  1. Provide leadership for the pastoral team and giving regular reports to the leadership council.

  1. Upon a vacancy in the office of the Pastor, the Leadership Council shall establish a Pastoral Search Committee consisting of six persons, three members of the Leadership Council including the Chairperson, who shall be the chair of the committee, and three members elected from the congregation. The Committee shall explore the field (within the church and outside of this church) for pastors who are available for call, and whose doctrinal position is in accord with this

church. Once the Pastoral Search Committee has made its recommendations, and a Pastor has been appointed, the committee's work will have been completed, and it shall stand dissolved.
