Position Overview

Community Baptist Church (CBC) is prayerfully seeking a Lead Pastor who will faithfully shepherd the church by preaching the Word, providing spiritual oversight, and leading with humility and vision. The ideal candidate will uphold our commitment to expository preaching, discipleship, and community outreach, while equipping the saints for the work of ministry (Ephesians 4:11-12).

Primary Responsibilities

• Preach and teach the inerrant Word of God with clarity and conviction through weekly expositional sermons and Bible studies.
• Shepherd the congregation through pastoral care, biblical counseling, hospital/home visitation, and spiritual encouragement.
• Lead with vision by collaborating with elders and deacons to pursue CBC's mission of evangelism and discipleship.
• Equip the body by developing leaders and discipleship pathways to mature believers in their faith.
• Engage the community by leading outreach efforts and building relationships with individuals and families in La Grange and surrounding areas.

Church Governance & Support

• CBC operates under an elder-led model with support from a team of deacons.
• The Lead Pastor will serve as the primary preaching elder and work collaboratively with fellow elders for the spiritual oversight of the church.
• The church offers a competitive compensation package and a supportive congregation committed to long-term stability and growth.

Position Qualifications:

Qualifications

• A clear and credible testimony of personal salvation and a life that reflects spiritual maturity and biblical character (1 Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:6-9).
• Affirmation of and complete alignment with CBC's doctrinal beliefs.
• A demonstrated calling to pastoral ministry, with at least 5 years of full-time ministry experience preferred.
• Proven ability to teach Scripture faithfully, shepherd the flock, and lead with biblical conviction and relational wisdom.
• A commitment to expository preaching, pastoral care, and local church leadership in the Baptist tradition.
• Preferably holds a degree from a conservative evangelical seminary or Bible college.

Community Baptist Church is a Christ-centered, Bible-believing church that strongly emphasizes the exegetical teaching of God's Word. Located in La Grange, North Carolina, we are a Baptist congregation rooted in Scripture, committed to sound doctrine, and united in our desire to glorify God through faithful worship, fellowship, evangelism, and discipleship.

We are a multigenerational church with members deeply rooted in the local community. Most of our families live within 5 miles of the church, with many having worshipped at CBC for over a decade. We are led by a team of elders and supported by deacons. We are seeking a new lead pastor to shepherd our congregation and help us reach the next generation while remaining grounded in the unchanging truth of God's Word.
